My brother and I just picked up tickets for the race this summer and we're both pretty excited. I've been to AMA before, but this will be my first MotoGP race. Anyone else planning on going as well?
Only the Schwantz supporters.... The hell with em..I would ride the place or see a race there in a heartbeat....:thumb:
Exactly.... He never produced the SO CALLED CONTRACT he had with Cota therefore it went to Dorna to organize.. The legal battle is still going but honestly why would anyone be against ANY motorcycle racin gin the US??? Friggin just dumb.... Some people just got their panties in a knot because Kevin didnt get the right to organize it or line his pockets....Nothing against Kevin but Its not what our industry needs or our country at this time... Those that boycott..... Well have fun... I guess you wont be watching on TV then either.. Or Any Moto GP from here on out... CYA!
I hate what happened to KS but I appreciate what Texas has done to bring another GP to the US market so I will watch. Still love KS though
Personally I don't care about that, that's KS and CoTA business. What I don't like is what they did with canceling the track day events for this year and then re-confirm some of them. I have a group of friends going there in the summer to ride it, the reason I'm not going isn't because I'm trying to boycott shit, just to expensive. Travel cost and then drop $460 per track day... well, maybe next year !):jester:
Whoa, $460 per day! Maybe someday if the prices go down a bit, but right now that's a bit too much for me. Barber would be a better road trip track day destination, IMO. But maybe that's just because I haven't been there yet.
To validate what Heineken said, it is a VERY expensive place to visit. I went to the USGP last November. Made me realize just how much Indy had spoiled me all these years. COTA does not allow anything but sealed water bottles to be brought in, so no cooler full of food and beer. Hats are $80 and t-shirts are $50. Don't know what the food costs (we ate before we went) but there are two, yes I said TWO drinking fountains in the entire facility. The place is conceived to suck you dry of every cent at every turn. It's very much lacking in character and the facilities at Barber are every bit as nice or better. Having said all that I imagine I will return for future races, ticket prices are reasonable and my sister lives in Austin so I can visit for very little money (don't forget that the hotels in town have their own profitable approach to race weekend, too). Do go see your favorite event at COTA, just be prepared for somewhat of a wake-up call as to what big business looks like in racing.
But where is our Road Atlanta AMA race? It isn't on either schedule yet. I am going to COTA but I am prepared to be raped at the track. We got a pretty good rate on our hotel and car. Ticket prices are reasonable compared to a lot of the international tracks.
I am going to the race. I got the official invite to be a track marshal during the MotoGP event. I cannot wait!
I'm confused!? This post reads like you went to COTA to watch the USGP which is held in Laguna Seca and you will be returning to COTA to watch the inaugural motoGP race this year. Or did you go to the F1 race there?
Aren't you joining Danny and Carlos at CoTA, mister big spender?)) Danny will bring his Kawasaki green HP4, lol
There is a USGP round in Indy too. I have been to the race at Laguna, but haven't made the Indy race yet. I have never found Indy to be a great place to watch a race. Very cool place to visit, but it is just too damn big and flat. Laguna is awesome in every way except getting in/out of the track...and Monterey is a very expensive place to stay.
