Anyone use the Harry's lap timer app? Looks pretty good, uses GPS, gives a lot of info, shows the track map and price is great!

Hope this thread gets into HOW to use it..

I've had it and to date, yet to get it working decently. OK at all.

SO if there isn't decent support here. Don't bother.. The site's help sucked, or used to.

I've used it. Worked great and can't beat the price. $20 or so.

I hope you guys have 2 phones.... It would really suck to 1 Break a rib if your phone is on you but more important break your phone if something serious happened... I am not a supporter of taking a phone on track.. On you.. On bike ect... Off soapbox...

I don't bother with the phone. The app sucked because of support.
Did a search several new video's that make it look interesting.
SO how do you safety wire a phone to the bike. LOL..
At my stage of riding, and don't see it changing. I don't care about time.
So the app is pointless to me.

TLR67- I would rather break my phone than a rib if I went down, just saying $600 means nothing compared to having downtime on your body for a month :)

Yes but my point is is that your Phone will be the thing breaking your rib if you keep it in your inside pocket.... It has happened ....

I use the HLT app for my laptimer. I bought a cheap used iPhone off Craigslist and velcro it to the top of my tank just behind the triple. Works quite well and has always been very close to the laptimers that my friends use.

Ram mounts and a rugged case maybe
Most hard cases have a lanyard hold molded that could be used for a tethering point
I use a ram mount for my qstarz LapTimer

I purchased one of these to hold my XT Racing GPX Zed. It comes with a smart phone holder. I never used the phone holder but it looked like it might do the job (I just can't attest except to the base holder which works great). BTW, I am selling that mount and the phone holder as I have now purchased a data logger that I can store under my seat. I am not sure how universal these mounts are but I believe their website says. I paid $80. If you pay shipping and give me enough to purchase a bottle of my favorite beer (about $15 for beer), will call it even ;-) My stand is red. Happy to post pictures in near future if anyone interested.

(oh, while the phone is held in place strongly, it is not tethered - so, not sure if STT will approve. For my GPX Zed, I had it zip-tied to the base (along with some strong plastic velcro underneath it.). Oh, and am selling my GPX Zed as well if anyone interested.

They run for $375. Mine is in perfect condition and includes the software and USB cable (the GPS receiver is attached to base unit). I do not have the original packaging however. To be honest, I just throw all my USB cables together so I am not sure I can recognize the original one, but I will include a USB cable that fits (it's a mini USB connection). Say $225+whatever shipping method you want?

BTW, I do like the GPX Zed. What I did not like was that it required me to put it in my dash area. I am not interested in looking at its data in realtime - for the person that does - this should be great. I desired a data logger I could hide away under my seat and just download at the end of a day or the weekend. So, not moving away from it because it is bad, I just want something out of sight. I did like the GPS (no beacon) and that it recognizes the tracks you are at automatically (although autobahn does confuse it a bit with the north/south/full scenarios - but you can manually override its autoselection and chose the track.
