  5. I love my 675's...

I'd eventually like to put the race kit in the motor, but that can wait. it's a ton of fun right now and the torque of the triple is great!

The Ohlins Triple Clicker Rear and GP internals in the forks make it a dream to ride. They are super flickable.

I'd actually like to see any R bike come in a a non-street legal "track day edition." Like the body in white cars that some mfgrs sell. Do away with all the street stuff and cut the price in half.

A few years ago, Kenny Roberts was discussing buildling and selling track only bikes. It was right around the time he came out with the pipes and when he was still building the MotoGP bikes. I am sure the current economic situation has put that on hold. If you can make the numbers work out, it would be a good idea. It would be cool if you could buy a mass produced Moto2 bike and put whatever 600 engine in you want.

    Take care and ride safe,
    Brian

They are selling Moto2 bikes as track day machines overseas. I think the cost is around $140k-ish.

You can buy a purpose built, 450cc Single for the track for about $15k.

I have always wanted to ride one of those.

Obviously, the $140k-ish pricing would make it difficult for most of us. You would have to get to a level of production where the economies of scale kick in and get the price down. The reality is, you can buy a salvaged or used bike cheap enough to build an excellent track bike that would provide enough performance for just about everyone.

I was thinking same as the street model, but take off the emissions equip, headlights/blinkers and related electrical, and bodywork. Make it a factory option (like the old radio and A/C delete), no warranty, and knock a couple grand off the price. Roll a brand new 600 off the lot for under $6k and it's a no brainer.

  16. +1 .........oh wait thats what im riding now

There are 'customer' GP2 motorcycles available which would be exactly what you desire? circa $140,000. Rolling chassis $117,459.

www.ftrmoto.com as printed in RRW April 2010 pg. 10-11.

I have a '99 R1 and the only motorcycle I would consider is also the Duc 848R or a 748, I can always upgrade frome the base model.

There was a rider in the I group at Grattan this past Sat 6/4 on an 848 that said 848R on the skins. For real? Or was he just out to give us wood? I understand that Ducati actually did build an 848R with magnesium wheels and all the trick suspension bits you'd expect. But the price tag was around $40k.
