SO NOW THAT INDY IS GOING TO HOST MOTOGP NEXT YEAR. DOES THIS MEAN THERE ARE TRACKDAYS THERE IN OUR FUTURE?
In all honesty , while the Venue is steeped in History , the track itself is kinda lame. Gimmee MO or Barber or RA any day of the week over Indy. JMPO
I just spent some time using Google Earth; getting a birds-eye view of the facility. I recommend this to anyone who hasn't been there, for it's changed my mind on the facility. Overall, the place is VERY nice; world-class in terms of tracks. The infield appears to be much larger than the little diagrams indicate. Already good run-off areas and curbing, although I'm sure they'll have to do something about the run-off in the transition areas. I guess my first thought was of places like Pocono and Daytona, but I see that's not the case with Indy. Should be interesting to see how it improves even more. The one thing that shocked me was a few holes of a nearby golf course appear to be located INSIDE the infield  Is this true, or does it just appear to be???
You can never have too much RA..... or Barber for that matter. I'm pretty sure Barber is my favourite track... even though it's 12 hours away... and means spending 12 hours on the road with Johnny LaConte!!!!! Looking forward to Barber in October.... mmmmmm...... t
Rich Mike and I worked the F1 race for Speed in 04 and I drove a golf cart around the road course and i can tell you it is NOT motorcycle safe right now Jefferson has more run off then Indy. But they are changing it completely for MotoGP. At one time the infield was a 18 hole golf course.
The GP race is to run counterclock wise and there is to be a new turn in to the infield before the oval's turn 1. When I first heard the news about running counter to the F1 direction I was wondering what they were going to do or I thought they must be nuts with the concrete wall and all. I'm interested to see how it works out. Per the golf course, I think its down to 9 holes because of the infield road course. Because of the museum and bus tours of the track I can't imagine there being club days at Indy. Is the museum still a $1 entry fee?
Check out the Indy website. There are some videos and pictures up. They already have a Red Bull MotoGP button at the top. The introduction video is kind of cheesey, especially using a CBR painted up with Repsol colors and leaving the curb feelers and turn signals on the thing. Tickets are already for sale. http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/news/story.php?story_id=9612 http://www.redbullindianapolisgp.com/video/introduction/ http://www.redbullindianapolisgp.com/video/nickyhayden/
