Legal paperwork track questions

Discussion in 'STT General Discussion' started by rabbitracer69, Apr 5, 2006.

  1. Hey you guys it's me again. The human sponge asking questions. I just received an e-mail with the forms and waivers to ride at Mid-Ohio. I just had a couple of questions. On one of the forms it said that you need a title, Licencse with an "M"on it, insurance, and registration. I have the title, the licensce stuff, and the registration from last year. My registration is ending soon and I took the insurance off of it in the beginning of the winter since it's paid off and I was turning it into a track only bike anyway. Do I still need PLPD to ride on the track? I was also wondering if I need to re-register it? I don't really see the point since I won't be driving it on the street. Thanks.

  2. Does it specify auto insurance or health insurance? Health insurance wouldn't suprise me, and I think is actually a good requirement, but auto insurance (on the bike being ridden) could be a problem for many riders.

Interesting stuff. Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

  3. I'm not sure which insurance. I have to check that out again now that you said that. (I can't check my Yahoo account from this computer) I do have health insurance though. I'll get back with you on that one.

  4. Ok. I just checked it out now that I can check the computer at work. It said that you need motorcycle insurance, but it was relating to if you have a debt pretty much so I'm thinking that I'm good there. I'm still not sure about registration, but I'm thinking that I'm probably good without it. If someone else knows other wise though...PLEASE INFORM ME!!! I'm not exactly a lawyer here. Just a Fabi. (Fabricator)Thanks.

Mid Ohio has a requirement that equipment ridden there in the paddock be registered. Mopeds, for instance, must have valid registration and things like 50cc minis are not allowed. If i had to guess, this is one of the areas that they are trying to cover.

I have had multiple bikes there that were not registered or even insured, they were simply track bikes on titles. I always carry the title with me just in case, but i have never had a problem. Might not hurt to give Mid O a call and verify however...

  6. Thanks LawDog. That makes sense. I'll go ahead and give them a call just to make sure. Hopefully, I'm good with what I have though..... :) :) .

Are we suppose to be recieving these waivers/forms in the mail? I thought we get them and sign them at the track before we start.

  9. I can beleive the hassle and arrest stories. We camp every year and get at least a stop by every friday and Saturday.

I also saw them giving Jamie and Rachel Hacking a hard time 2 years ago while I wa helping a Privateer buddy pack up.

  10. :( God I hate rent a cops!!!(Referring to the article.) Kind of reminds me of a new officer in a POG unit that wants to bust your a@# for not polishing your boots and shaving when you get back from a mission outside the wire while his panzy A@# sits back on base. I guess some people just have to feel important.Anyway, good article though. I'm just ranting.

  11. Those incidents happened 6 and 7 years ago. Elin and I have been to Mid-Ohio every year for the past 5 years attending the AMA Races and have only been treated with professionalism from their staff. Actually, I was supprised by their leniency with regards to the shenanigans that went on in the pits after the races were through.

    Just another perspective.

not my perspective. i agree with max's article.

i've raced there two years in a row, and attended two ama events helping out a privateer.

each and every time, i had an event or nine that caused me to shake my head in disbelief.

mid-ohio still has a lot of work to do in the customer relations dept.

  13. Hey Guys and Gals,

Not to worry, the bike insurance thing is covered. I emailed Patty Schwall, Mid-Ohio Customer Relations Coordinator and she indicated that they realize "track bikes" cannot be insured and we should x out the part about insurance on the bike, but still sign the waiver.

    Trip.

  14. That's good news. Thanks :)
