EDIT: Reviewed! Michelin Power Super Sports?

REVIEWED: Ended up putting a set on for my first go in Advanced at ACC. Being someone who used to run only Q2's and never had experience running anything else at the track, it was a very different experience - for the better. Most notably, the tires felt lighter (as I've heard with Michelin's tire compounds) and allowed me to really pin-point where I wanted to set the bike up. The front felt very composed and predictable especially when doing heavy trail-braking. Heated up quickly and I never had to set them past 150 F with warmers on. I would highly recommend these for anyone in any class, especially if you don't have warmers. These were a great step up from the Q2's and definitely more dedicated for the track as far as getting the feedback and composure you would want from a tire.

As the weekend prolonged out and my pace increased I began to want more grip out of them. I primarily found myself struggling to keep the rear from sliding and spinning under hard acceleration on corner exits and heavy braking/downshifting when I reached the center of the tire compound. Personally, I think they could have put a slightly softer compound in the middle similar to the front tire. It caused me to go off line a few times and miss my apex's on corner entry and trying to over-brake someone for a pass on the inside. But then again, I think this was really pushing the limits of what they can do. Front seemed composed and never gave me an "oh shit" moment which helped me correct the squirrely rear at times. But at full lean, especially through the quick transitions of turns 3-5 on the North course they felt great. Would have loved to use these at RA.

I can't comment much on durability just yet but they seem to hold up pretty well after a weekend of abuse.

I will probably go with a strictly dedicated track tire next (maybe fork out the money for some slicks and rains), but these are truly great tires none-the-less. They are exactly how the market them - if you spend 50/50 street and track then these will definitely please you.

Pressures were set at 30F/22R and never felt the need to change from those recommended settings. Heated up the were around 34F/28R.

Big thanks to AJ at Wicked Moto in West Allis, WI for getting me a great deal with quick installation!

EDIT #2: Most people have been running 27R cold and had better results. I will definitely try that next month when I return to ACC.

OLD POST:Anyone have these and want to chime in on how they like them? A local vendor is offering a very good deal on a set with free mounting and I want a more track oriented tire rather than the Q2's I've been running. I don't have tire warmers yet but heard the compound is similar to the 2CT on the PP's so I don't think a parade lap would hurt before really grinding in to them.

That's actually the thread that got me fairly interested in them a little more. But just looking to see if anyone can offer some first hand advice and comparison to other tires as well.

There is another coach who has been running these at Grattan and Road America... I'll see if I can get him to chime in.

I've run them for 3 TDs so far, ACC and RA.

They've held up well, heat up fast. Within one lap at ACC and little less than half a lap at RA. The only time they started to move around on me when I wasn't intentionally hammering on the throttle to get rear to step out (not the way around fast, but fun...) was when I was running the pressures too low. Even then though there was a good feedback letting me know that it was happening. I like 'em.

I'd say I run a fast I pace at ACC and a mid I pace at RA. Eddie (coach) was running them and we were talking about the tires. He also liked the tires and can definitely ride them much harder then I can too...

Where in the Milwaukee area were you going to get them?

Thanks for the input! Wicked Moto Parts in West Allis is having a nice sale on them right now; new shop and promoting deals to help get their name out there. Haven't been able to find them for any cheaper anywhere else.

That's where I got mine as well. Best prices I could find, local, internet or otherwise.

I put on a set of the SuperSports this year. I ran all last year on a set of PowerPures, and loved them, but was new to trackdays (riding in "N") and new to riding with any skill whatsoever. :p

This year I've picked up the pace, and so far, so good with the grip and feedback. They do heat up fast, so using warmers isn't really needed.

Hoping to get good life out of 'em. I've done 8 days on 'em and they're holding up great! (insert <not riding fast enough> joke here) LOL

Thanks for the info! I'm having these put on for Autobahn weekend and will be trying them out for my first time in Advanced. I'll be running warmers as well so I'll be sure to post some feedback.

Anyone have recommended pressures hot or cold? I think its usually 30F/24R cold?

That front pressure isn't a bad starting point, but at an advanced pace I think that 24R is going to cause the tire to get too hot and grease up on you. 24R cold was really my lower cut off point for a mid-I pace before they started to get too hot part way through the session.

Hmm, I've heard as low as 21R or so for the old Power One's so maybe I should be aiming around there for a cold temp. Might as well just check with the tire guys when I get there.

I've been told (by the tire service guys) that these tires perform best operating at a slightly lower temp than the cups/ones/etc. 150* comes to mind but don't quote me on that. So when running warmers, the tires need a lap to cool down before they're running optimally. Again, just what I've been told by tire service guys - but thought I'd share the info.

I run warmers too, but don't really ride fast enough that I'm having issues, especially my first lap out... my tires cool off while I'm out there because of my pace, so I guess the end affect is -- I'm doing it right? :lmao:

mott make sure to use lower temp warmers these are 130 Deg tires not 160. That's what allows them to warm up so fast. I just purchased a set so until I ride on them I cant comment. From what I hear they really hold up well.

I have adjustable temp warmers so I'll be sure to keep them low. Thinking warm them up to 130 20 minutes before a session and then just wrap them after the session with warmers off - repeat cycle. Never used warmers before either so this will be all new to me!
