Anyone from Philadelphia area with room for 1 bike and 1 body need someone to share expenses (fuel, toles, motel, & garage). I'd like to leave on Sunday the 29th, and return on Wedneday the 2nd.
Bobby, there's a possibility that I might be heading that way to pick up my new bike around then. I'll keep you posted. Lance
Chris..... I'm assuming you're asking about Summit Main, but since I spent a very frustrating day unsuccessfully setting up my new Bazzaz electronics, I never really got up to speed....so I can only judge the track from a relatively slow (I'd be really surprised if I was under 24's) perspective. Turns 1, 3, 4, 9 and 10 (destroyed a set of ceramic toe sliders in 10) were pretty nice....maybe a little faster than before, but coming out of 5 is bumby as shit and the carousel is pretty slick. If I were to judge the surface based on how my knee sliders looked after 5 sessions, Mid Ohio leaves them looking wet sanded where Summit left them looking as if they'd been dremelled by a drunk with a coarse cutter.
No I was talking about Mid O. I have raced twice this year already @ Summit. Your right, T5 is a joke. Our karts hop like crazy through there. For us I think it is about a 1/2 second faster than last year. Our Stock CR125's in the lead group (pack of about 9) are doing (depending on Air Density) High 21's in April. We where slower last mos. low 22's, air was really bad, and there was a head wind. I leave for Mid O Thursday.
Chris... Mid Ohio is the nicest track I've ever been on, but takes awhile to get up to speed. It's one of those venues that I really love, but it doesn't love my lap timer (lol); I'm not very fast there. I'm assuming your Kart will rock there, and it has a really nice rythm, but the straight is very (perhaps a little TOO long) long and very fast, as it's mildly downhill. After that there are a series of rollercoaster elevation changes that have a great feel. You'll have fun......
Is it longer than VIR's front straight. As long as VIR full course back straight? I think I have the gearing, but another opinion wouldnt hurt.
Chris, Look these tracks up on mapquest or something like that and use the scale to measure the distance of the straights. Some tracks will list lengths of straights on their websites but that doesn't tell the whole story as the speed with which one carries through the corner leading to the straight is quite important too. Bob, Too bad your not going to RA (WI) in July. Mu guestimate on fuel cost for my RV is $680 (if gas is only $4.25). But I'm also planning a couple extra days in MI to visit with some family members.
Just to follow up....my gearing for Summit, VIR, Kershaw, worked the best for Mid O. Fastest lap of race was 1:35.426. My fastest lap was 1:35.700. Track is a blast!!
Chris... I'm glad you enjoyed it, and congratulations, 'cause....I'd not only sell my soul to be able to do a 1:35 there, but I'd sell my body to do a 1:39.99999999 Unfortunately, no one wants either one.
