I just got an email from Patti at Mid-Ohio and it stated Monday Sept 24 was "short course". What's that all about?? Does the track loop right to the back stretch after turn 1 or something? i hope not.

Yep per Debbie at MO it is stated on the STT web site that they are not running the Keyhole. Well I looked on the STT site and the MO site and nothing!!!
I personally don't want to run a short course and wish it was stated that way before I scheduled my time for this date.

    Here's a map: http://www.midohio.com/track.aspx

Keyhole is the 180 degree corner by Steam Corners Rd. You can see the service connector right after T1. The small oval track (where the chicane is) would not be run. Still looks like a fun layout, though I have never done a track day when the short track was run. I suspect the SV650 guys like it though. That said, while I understand Mid-Ohio makes much more money hosting car events, all the double events, 1/2 days events, etc., stink for motorcycle events, especially when it is unclear when you sign up what type of event it will be. I suspect this is a Mid-Ohio management issue that Monte has no control over, but he can correct me if I am wrong.

    Still Great track

Being on the track is still great.

The short coarse is a different challenge. After T1 hard on the breaks, nice sweeping corner, fear grips you as you are now are heading for the wall, no worries though, as long as you stay steady, on the gas.

I prefer the full track, however the short coarse does teach you corner speed and breaking.

    Still a Great Track, John

yeah I like how they just (last hour) changed the description for the 24th but for anyone that scheduled early its tough luck. If you want to reschedule it will cost you 50 bucks. Not that it was my fault that the date was misleading. You would think good business practice they would make things right.

I'm sure the short course can be fun but that was not what I sign up for.

I got a reply back from Patti at MO and she also confirmed the short track. she said the key hole area was going to be used for something else. Anyhow, I'm doing 9/24 short course and 9/25 LED (hopefully LED is long course) and I'm happy with that. Can anyone confirm Tues 9/25 LED as log or short?

I did voice my concerns with Mid-Ohio before posting this, figuring Monte had or has nothing to do with this since we sign up on th MO website that is run by TRUE SPORT Inc. I have nothing against Monte or STT they have always been great with me and this is not a slam on them at all.

And yes I was posting my dissatisfaction on how they (TRUE SPORT Inc) handle their mistakes.
