Just a friendly reminder that the MotoGP race is on CBS this Sunday, not Speed. My local listing says 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, Grand Prix of Catalunya.
Its produced by Dorna and Kevin Schwantz doing color. More at http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/May/070503a.htm
Well, i thought about that mute button a few times . . . Man, that announcer along with Swantz really sucked. Absolutely no excitement or passion with the sport, even Swantz sounded like he didn't want to be there. And who the Hell dressed him? Looked like he was on his way to a BBQ, not a World-class GP race! They were so dull and lifeless that i didn't even realize the race started by the sound of their voices. Clearly, they were on a pre-written script, full of crap that didn't have much to do with the race. The comments on the US riders was pretty sad. I know they were instructed to keep tabs on their progress, but man, it sounded desperate. ". . .and to update the progress of the Americans, we're now in Fouth, 10th, 12th, and 16th". And Hooper is only half American. More like 3/4's Brit now that he lives there. He makes it pretty clear in his graphics and Tatoos. I know a lot of people make fun of Nick Harris, but man, he was sorely missed on this broadcast. Camera work was pretty good, but I'm sure that's fed from Dorma. On the plus side, free HDTV broadcast! Kick ass! 8)
The feed is from Dorna or the same as provided to Speed. As the race is in the afternoon in Europe obviously there is time to create a script. The "script" could have at least been better. The English Screamer which we hear on SpeedTV likely is always screaming to hear himself over the motorcycles as he is actually at the track even though he's commenting based on the video feed provided to him. All in all it could be much worse and is still better than nothing. At least Schwantz is Foggy.
