I would definitely have to agree with "Gigantic" on the order.... We all love Rossi, but I would eventually like to see Nicky take it some day. It's that whole being proud of being American thing I guess. (I still like Rossi though, he's still the best and he's got a level head.) 8)
Based on preseason testing, Hopper might be able to put in some podium finishes this year. Looks like Hayden & Melandri will have more competition than I expeted from the new young Honda pilots. Ducatis look they will be very competitive this year too. I still have to go with Rossi overall though, & it would be nice to see Edwards have a good year. Kenny Jr. could put in some surprising results now that he has Honda power too. Could be a decent year for the Americans!
Valentino .Hes got everyone beat before they even make the grid .And now that he has had some time to figure out Laguna,Im sure he will win that one too . Hey remember the AMA ?? anyone ....
Off the topic, Walt we will be racing at Summit this coming weeeknd if your interested in coming down Fri/Sat/Sun
You must have failed spelling :!:   Chris, I'd love to make it to Summit Point for the races but am too busy this weekend. Hopefully some time in the near future. Walter
I like Rossi alot, but Capriossi is doing pretty darn good right now. Better than I thought originally.
Nicky's vote tally should start climbing after that race at Assen today. Looked like Edwards was in win or crash mode, since he's not really a title contender. Great day for Nicky though, other than Pedrosa finishing third. (For the record Nicky had 3 votes here before the Assen race.)
If you go to the 2006 racing predictions you'll see my list is: 1) Valentino Rossi 2) Marco Melandri 3) Nicky Hayden 4) Dani Pedrosa 5) Sete Gibernau I list the next two, just because, ... 6) Colin Edwards 7) Chris Vermeulen Nicky's chances look extremely good right now if he can keep from crashing and finish every race for the rest of the year. With Capirossi out for now and Rossi currently hurt, who knows?
Stating back to my quote...."I would like to eventually see Nicky take it some day" Who knows...Maybe this year. 8)
Last 2 laps from Assen. Great battle; looked like Nicky and Colin wanted to win so much they got quite reckless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08himJBDNRE
Thanks for the clip Lance. I actually missed that race on Sunday because I had other obligations, but I did watch the World Superbike Race at 10:00pm. That looked like a good race. 8)
My impression is Colin tried to block Nicky and he was too agressive with his move and that put off the track. Read this and you can see why I have this impression. http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2006/Jun/tb/060624g.htm Colin; "...Nicky came up inside me two laps from the end he left the pass pretty late and there was nowhere for me to turn the bike into. I had to go straight and luckily it was at a point of the track where I could run back on again. I was determined not to lose hold of him and just gave it everything to give myself a chance on the last lap. I got past him and then tried to keep a really defensive line out of the final corner - I had no idea Nicky had run onto the gravel otherwise I wouldn't have needed to do it. Unfortunately I ran it a bit too tight onto the grass and the rear just spun up as I opened the throttle and it threw me off. I'm gutted but fair play to Nicky, it was a great race."
That's about what I expected to hear from Edwards. 2nd place meant nothing to him. He was going for the win, & anything Hayden did short of contact was to be expected. Great race! Watch out for Edwards at Laguna...
Watch out for Edwards in GB. Colin's Donnington preview statement from 2005, "I had a good result last year [2004], ending up second, and at the time I was riding a bike I wasn?t completely comfortable with," recalls Edwards. "Now I?m going there on the back of a third, a second? I?m guessing it must be time for a first! I like Donington, I always get along with it and it?s been one of my favourite tracks for a long time, so we?re rolling up there looking to win."
