I am looking to buy a set of Dunlop N-Tec UK or US. They will go on my 1000cc so I am looking for soft or medium??? I may buy some take offs if I can see them at a track day.
Brian, which tire is the 302? I just started running the UK tires last year and don't recognize that #. DOT or slick? Thanks Steve
302 is a slick. As Brian said, awesome tire. We ran the entire 6 hours at the Road Atlanta endurance race on one front and it still was working great.
I once got 11 track days on my 1000cc out of a set. Front still looked ok but I changed both for a new set.
I honestly have worn down an Ntec slick front but never wore it out. I ran the same front tire (flipped it every couple of days) pretty much all season. It has a significant V shape but still sticks as hard as I dare throw it into a corner.
Honestly I don't know on the front, the UK NTEC fronts seem to last forever (the US made tire while good will not live nearly as long), I've always changed them out just when I had that nagging feeling it had too many heat cycles. Was it as fast at that point as when new? No, but still had plenty of feedback for trackdays. The rears will not last nearly as long especially on a 1000. I can easily destroy 1 a day at a trackday. 3 or 4 sprint races on a race weekend. Now a lot of that is your pace, I have know people get a couple of weekends out of a rear but they are just riding quick smooth laps, not pushing it.
That's the same conclusion I came to when I switched last year. For me the uk dunlops lasted long enough to make up for the higher price.:rawk: Plus I prefer the feel of the Dunlop front. Later Steve
All the Tech stuff is right here on their website. Pressures, tire warmer advice, componds and sizing etc. http://dunlopracing.com/technical-info/ Personally I just set the pressure cold 31\21 in the morning and leave it alone.
WOW, that's high...ends up at around 27-28 hot off track? I know what it says on the spec page, but the Dunlop techs at the track will tell you 21-23 hot off track works best for grip and life.
I agree, I'll run anywhere from 19-21 off the warmers depending on temps, etc to end up in that 21-23 range off track
Up front I have done 29-31 and in the rear 19-21.. Cold I have seen about a 3-4 PSI increase off the track and I adjust accordingly to the track conditions/weather.
