Lance clearly has too much time on his hands... or the boss is outta town today!! As for Kozy's ability, I can personally attest that he is far and away the go-to person for the beginning novice. I actually asked him (as opposed to me) to take my G/F out for her first trackday b/c i knew he had the needed patience and teaching ability to get thru her thick skull!! ( i am prolly gonna pay for that one). Seriously, Kozy is THAT good... people who are in his group generally progress faster in one day than ANY other group through his teaching.
"it needs one of these before it can start to compete with my SV for top looks" I am wondering if he'll incorporate your trick frame modification: the one which automatically changes the steering head location and geometry. Did you really think we would believe your frame just happened to crack there!!!!!
"Definitely not on the "to do" list for the bike! Besides, Helise actually knows how to ride" I would have to agree. Probably a riding aid he pick up at one of those "outlaw" group's trackday. "It's a top secret MotoGP technology experiment gone bad" Any plans to market it as a theft deterrent feature??? I seem to remember it having positive field testing results. Sorry Helise & Wade if I touched on a still sensitive topic.
  ....excellent idea! Unfortunately, we're having a tough time reproducing the results prior to an actual crash Wade, any progress on the SV? I want to see more pics.
In lieu of starting a "Blowin' Kozy" thread, please bare with me for a moment... Kozy is our Patron Saint of Patience. He relentlessly volunteers to help those that need the most help. Who else would willingly spend an entire day at Mid-Ohio (probably his favorite track by the way) never exceeding 33mph? Not me for one. He has forgotten more than most of us know about high performance sportbike riding. If you can figure out his version of English, there's a lot to be learned. At least three generations of Instructors & countless students are using his lines at Mid-Ohio. And don't let the fact that he's usually puttin' around on his dirt bike fool you. If he's in the mood & has brought out his SV1000, Mille, R1, ZX-9, S1W, or whatever else he might have these days, he can still hook it up! Last but not least, beyond the realm of usefull information, anyone that has ever spent a fair amount of time with him will someday catch themsleves chuckling about something he said sometime much later, leaving strangers wondering what is wrong with you.
Thanks DJ, but I think I'll keep my clothes on. Freudian slip there, buddy? :? While you're in there, could you hand me out my jacket? +1 on Kozy's patience, but also on his secret ability to haul ass when the mood strikes him. I remember chasing him for most of a session at Gingerman, and an entire session at Mid Ohio a few years back, and I'm thinking, "This guy is supposed to be slow! Why am I having such a hard time catching him?"
K3's nightmare went something like this... http://media.putfile.com/Motorcycle-Track-Day-Mid-Ohio-Kozy
All those nice things said about Kozy, even AFTER he stole their bikes. There are no limits to some people's kindness.......
Yes, I tend to be too kind! People tell me that all the time....NOT! Well, I finally finished up Helise's SV yesterday. While fun, this is the last time I prep an SV for the track. In addition to the usual (carbs, plugs, engine ice, oil, brake pads, etc.), I installed clip-ons, rearsets, chain, shock, Traxxion fork internals, stainless steel brake lines, frame sliders, seat cowl, and undertail. Right now it is set-up for the street (come on warm weather). And ebay fiberglass undertail turned out nicer than expected: All the cool kids have Radial M/Cs: I still need to get tires and an exhaust bracket (having trouble finding one for the 1st gen), but it is basically done. Therefore, I finally got started on the Duc today (sorry Misko, I was bored). If I had any lingering desire to ride the Duc on the street it is now gone. It would just be too tedious and time consuming to swap it back and forth. So once prepped for the track, it's staying that way.
that's funny, I was going to post over on cycle forums "what happened to Helise's bike?" Looks nice!
this guy has an exhaust bracket http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SV65...011QQitemZ320081445390QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V I made one just like it for about 6 bucks
