Hello everyone. I have been riding dirt bikes since I was 4. When I got into my teens I raced a few enduros on a 300. When I was 16 I bought a Harley and started riding on the roads. I am now wanting to start racing on a local track. I have 0 experience with sport bikes or aggressive riding besides enduro. Where do I start? I am looking at purchasing a bike dedicated to the track and some good gear. But to get started at track days what do I need to do besides that?

    Welcome!

Track days are a great way to get started and STT is an excellent organization so you’re in the right place. A dedicated track bike really isn’t necessary, a street bike with a few preparations for the track tech requirements will do. That plus some gear and an open mind will get you started.

Where are you from? What’s the local track to you?

My closest track is in Cresson Tx. It’s about an hour away from me. I know ridesmart is an organization that does a few track days there and some for first timers. I really have no need for a bike that goes on the street. I have 2 Harley, one is for long distance and one is performance built. Is there a preference for bikes on the track. Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, etc. I am currently looking at a ninja 250 or 400 as well as an apilia 250.
