You'll want to use blue painter's tape - it comes off nice and easy.

I'd also recommend pulling your fuse for your headlight... the heat from the headlight can make the tape adhesive a bit gooey.

Make sure you tape up the brake light well... sometimes people don't tape it up well enough and you can still see it come on under the tape... it can be a bit of a distraction.

The easiest thing for the lights (and the horn) is to pull the fuses.

Dig around this forum and others and you'll find tons of information about setting up your bike, what tape to use, etc.

One other thing. Before you place your track day sticker (that says you paid and identifies your group) on your bike on track day you might want to use blue painters tape first, then the track day sticker on top of it. Otherwise its difficult to take off cleanly. Of course, if you treat the sticker like a fighter pilot's score, than ignore all of the above.

My 07 CBR1000's headlight fuse also went to the starter, I think and the taillight fuse to the tachometer, so I had to disconnect the wires. Just a note

If its your street bike , Id remove the headlight , tail light and indicators along with the mirrors. Ya priced any of these things recently , you know just in case well you know .....

Before I retired the Meanie from track duty
I went to extremes . $30 tank and $15 Fairing along with $20 Bulldogged Akro. ( I normally run a CF Akro ), of course removed all the lights and mirrors

Sure it was ugly , but at least I knew if I went woops I wouldn't be out $1500 :)
[IMG]. And yes I went woops a couple of times , nothing serious but if I had the regular stuff on there I would have been :(
Now I have a dedicated track bike , my track preperation takes an hour less

When you get there, you'll get help/pointers on what to do. Everybody it pretty cool out there. Don't get to wired up and have fun. You'll get the hang of it after a few track days.

jdunphy and tacmedic.......you all have some ugly bikes!!! :D You need to keep those tanks off the track..... :D

So who made you the track bike expert
I'd put my Dinosaur up against any sportbike on the track any time. I'm not the fastest of riders by a long shot, but my Dinosaur has snacked on many a sport bike at the track.
Ya ever heard of a fella called Eddie Lawson?

The only reason I stopped track daying my Rex it was I didn't want to fubar it . Now I have a disposable sport bike
