Hey guys, my buddy and I did NJMP Lightning a month ago for our first track day and we had a blast. We rode with nesba, but I also heard some nice things about STT. With all the different riding dates, it seems like two good oranizations to ride with.

Anyhow, I want to ride again while I am on vaction from 6/6-6/14 and low and behold, STT has the lightning course on 6/6 and 6/7. I was going to ride on 6/14 with nesba at lightning, but 6/7 is so much more convenient..........so here are my question about a first time with STT

    1) Do the venues usually fill up? And how many bikes usually run in a group? Nesba begginers group on our first track day was almost filled. They had 50 bikes signed up that day out of 55 total spots. Its was a little bunched up, but it gave us a chance to work on corner markers and passing skills.

    2) If i missed it, I appologize, but whats the passing rule like for beginners in STT?

    3) It seems like the price to sign up for STT is $35 and the track day at NJMP for 6/7 is $150.....is that it?

    4) I plan on registering for novice, but my buddy and I ( both been riding for 8 years ) were in the middle of the pack ( on the slightly quicker side regarding speed, pace and control ) when we rode with nesba.....even though it was our first track day. We felt comfortable in the beginner group and were smooth at high speed, semi agressive riding. Would I probably be in the middle of the pack in the beginner group with STT?

    5) I am assuming everything else will be similar to what I encountered when I arrived at NJMP when I rode with nesba?

Anything else I should know about? I am new to track riding and just want to learn and progress like everybody else ( I'm not an ego-maniac, but the ego deffinatley gets checked at the door ).

    Thanks,

    Lee

first off welcome and have fun!

the dates you are inquiring about will be run by absolute cycle under our reciprocal membership program . be assured it is a well run org & we have had great feedback on both ends from both orgs clients .

as far as your q's i'll answer in order

1: yes they fill up quick , but stt & absolute run smaller groups than , well................the other orgs . get your spot now if you want it.

2: 6 of 1 / half a dozen of the other w/ all the different orgs . i suggest reading the entire "rulebook" online .

3: what it says on the stt booking site is what it is . no hidden costs .

4: stay in novice , "study" during the classroom sessions , the format is similar but presented in a different manner w/ the diff orgs . if you have a question write it down then ask when you get the chance , the dumbest q's are the one you don't ask . i think you would be wise to take it all in & "make your own pie" . unless of course the staff keeps coming up to you saying you should move......

    5: yep , register - tech - riders meeting - ride

as for the last part , drilling/saftey wiring your oil drain , filter & fill as well a changing coolant is a fantastic thing no matter what group are are in & required to bump up out of novice/beginner ......i prefer distilled , deionized or reverse osmosis water w/ water wetter but engine ice is good if you don't want to drain/change for winter storage .

    enjoy your new drug ..........................................
