To the novice rider who went down in Charlotte's Web.I may have caught your slide on my GoPro. White leathers and what looks to be maybe a Blue CBR 600. Too bad my camera wasn't mounted on the other side to see what went wrong. I hope all is ok with you and your bike!
he wasnt leanin much and his foot was almost dragging and in that tight corner its easy to get low, assuming his foot caught pavement and caused a crash, wasnt there idk, hope all is well
To the rider, don't feel bad, I did the exact same thing in Advanced session one on my second lap with my "new to me" Ducati 748. I think there was a tricky "slick spot" in that corner.....
there def seems to be something about that corner (and I hope I'm not jinxing myself now!). last October there were a HUGE number of crashes in that corner, in all groups, and even some that involved control riders and some multi rider incidents. I've had two friends drop their bikes with minimal lean and/or corner speed. I've always felt good through there.... must be some weird patch of pavement...
I just know that when I go down, I hope it's in the same corner as the photographer and someone catches it on video. So I figured he might like to see his slide as well!
To be honest, the track was wet and cold as well as my tires being cold. I thought I was taking it at a proper speed and lean angle given the conditions but obviously I was wrong. A lot of riders were collected by Charlotte's Web Saturday but I wouldn't blame it on the track, it was the cold, damp conditions in my opinion as I've ridden there in the summer and my bike stuck just fine there. I'm just glad I was able to fix my bike and finish my track day. Big thanks to Marc for giving me a perfectly good shift lever to destroy into a bracket to hold a foot peg and to Huey for having a new clip on bar, used peg and for letting me use his shop and tools to get it all done. Had a great time!
I went down also this Saturday in Charlotte's Web in the fourth session. Not sure exactly why but if someone was behind me and has GoPro footage I would love to see it. Riding a primer gray bike with a white tail fairing and black suit. Maybe the corner worker remembers.
I think I saw your wreck shots in the us129 photo gallery. Maybe. Might want to give those a look through when they are posted.
Marc also helped me get on the track this weekend by giving me a spacer. Wouldn't accept anything in return. So I built him a 6 pack of beer. That's why I love riding with STT, such a good group of people, always friendly, and ready to lend a hand/part!
I also wrecked there in February. I was on my second lap of the day. It was end of February so was a little chilly out in the early morning. I had a front warmer stop working later that morning, not sure how long it was on the way out.
ironically when it poured at barber april of 2014, maybe 55 degrees out and a full downpour, that is the only turn i got low enough and drug knee through in the pouring rain
