Oh, there's an extra rear wheel spacer..

    Hi friends

    I took my wheels off my new track bike for the first time ever to get new tires installed for the upcoming season. :wheel:

    New tires installed, rims went back on nice and easy.

    Except for this little guy. When I disassembled the rear axle I had put this on the left (clutch) side of the bike next to the other parts that came off the left side. The right side parts were on the right side, etc. I just can't remember where it goes and I could not figure out how to fit it in.

    I decided to finish putting the wheel back on anyways and everything appears to be nice and snug.

    Any ideas as to where this little guy belongs? Does it go under the sprocket maybe? I just had that thought as I was typing this. It was too wide to fit into the wheel bearing (I think I'm saying that right). So I thought it was just a spacer that went in between the wheel and the swingarm but it absolutely did not fit there.

    I cannot wait for my first day out there I'm going crazy...:getdown:

    the one on the inside between the pulley and bearings/wheel should have a shoulder on it

    I see its missing it's 11 you need to put that in

    Thanks. I have the manual and I looked at it. I skimmed right over 11 because I swear it didnt fit there and-

    on my bike, the rear axle nut is on the brake pad side not the sprocket side like in the manual. Does that matter?

    It doesn't really matter which side the nut is on. I prefer it on the right.
    It helps keep the axel straight due the pressure going towards the adjusters

    It is exactly the same width as that. So is it a spacer? It does not fit there as a spacer. Unless Im an idiot. Which is true anyways, and also most likely whats happening here.

    Edit- its actually an little wider than that..

    That leaves no room for the brake on the other side.

    next time you pull the wheel, get some cleaner on that sprocket.
    it's easier to see problems on a clean bike.
    I'd check the front sprocket/well also; usually chain grease spins off right there.

    Thanks. I get you. Was gonna clean the chain and sprocket prior to first day which I havent booked yet.

    That extra piece is sized perfectly for axle to fit flush inside. Is it possible it goes under the sprocket? It does fit there, but not exactly snugly.

    If this is a gsxr, that spacer SHOULD go right where it is in this picture.. Half of it should fit snugly inside the rubber ring on the sprocket carrier... You see how your axle is not the same diameter as the hole of the sprocket carrier?

    It took me awhile to see that it was the axle on the left side and not a spacer.

    There are spacers on both sides of the wheel. You shouldn't be able to slide the wheel sideways when it's properly assembled.

    The spacers fits in the seal. It's a tight fit but the friction is what holds it in while you get the axle in there and tightened up.

    The spacer fits down into the seal on the outside of the sprocket...

    Ill take pics of everything later today.

    Ive been having a terrible time at work last week and this week. Its fun to have something else to occupy my mind while Im getting my ass handed to me while Im on the clock.

    I think you are right. I think i just got it about 30 min ago. I think this other piece was supposed to go under the sprocket. And #11 is #11 and it goes where you all have been telling me.

    Just make sure the one in the back of the Cush is in and secure.. There is a wrong way there for placement that can happen...
