For those of you that couldn't make it, here's what you missed! Here's one lap around Mid Ohio. This track is so smooth now, I could barely feel my knee dragging on the ground. I can't wait to get back there! Enjoy... http://media.putfile.com/Mid-Ohio-2006
I tried watching with Windows Media Player and can't make out a thing. Have you tried viewing the video on the link yet? Thanks
Weird. I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you. It works fine for me. I sent the link to several friends and they didn't have any problems either. You don't have to right click and save, just left click it. If you already tried that, I don't know what the problem is. Sorry I can't help.
sweet video. wish i hadn't backed out of going. (man that speedo looks way off...are you geared down?)
My bikes geared down one in the front too. How much does that throw it off.......Just curious. By the way the video was awesome!! I bought a shadow one from there this weekend. I really liked the tank cam though. I'll have to try and get one at beaver run when I go in May.
it's a percentage thing. find your old ratio (number of teeth on rear divided by number of teeth on front) find your new ratio new ratio minus old ratio equals ratio change divide old ratio by ratio change and multiply by 100. this equals percentage ratio change. this ratio will be the same as your speedo percentage error due to gearing change. i think. (don't forget that your speedo was already probably off before the gearing change....most are 5-15% high from the factory)
Isn't the speedo sensor on the front wheel? Mine is at least, so I figure gearing changes wouldn't affect my speedo at all.
Many/most later sportbikes are using the rear wheel/transmission, like your car. If your front wheel is a different size, that will change the reading too. Same thing, percentage based on original tire OD versus current tire OD.
P.S. http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2006/May/060504c.htm and Laguna Seca stinks and Barber is great. LOL http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2006/May/060502a.htm I haven't been to Barber but the 2005 MotoGP was horrendous. About 5 hours before getting out of the "facility" after the GP. That's 5 hours of sitting still in dust filled, brown grassed hill/parking area.
I dunno, we waited till 6pm before leaving and it took a good 3 hours or so to get back to Monterey. Got to admid, I've been stuck in traffic WAY longer at concerts and football games. Sure, it could have been managed better, but any event that draws that kind of crowd will result in bad traffic. Did anyone take the shuttle to the Laguna? I had trouble finding it based on the directions from the hotel person. I wonder if the shuttle got a better route. Two or three weeks ago they had two of the directors from Laguna Seca on the MotoGP Podcast. The mentioned a bunch of improvements for the 2006 event, but said the biggest problem was getting the local police to change the traffic patteren. Apparently, there's like a dozen or so law enforement agencies that control the road leading to the track, each with their own policies. Camping looks like the best bet, just don't know how much sleep is possible with that kind of crowd.
To compare Barber and Laguna Seca is ridiculous . One gets by on generated/public funds, the other was started with 16+ million in personal cash on top of cheap Alabama real estate. And what does Barber attract, 6 maybe 10,000 people for an AMA event? Laguna had over 67,000. I don't think the tram driver would so friendly dealing with that kind of crowd. All of that landscaping and facilities is nice, but they forgot one important element: the track! Looks good on paper, but the FIM wouldn't give it the time of day. Never saw a track where the racing line involves bikes to jump a curb  . Even Kenny robers Sr. said it was one of the worse designed tracks in the world. By the way, if anyone is attending a Barber STT event from NJ and has room on their trailer . . . .
i'm gonna have to disagree a bit on the overall design of barber. it was the best (read 'most enjoyable') layout i've ever been on with two exceptions. - you're right about the curbing at the coaster...that's just dumb...but fixable. - it needs to have a longer straightaway before fim or motogp would even remotely consider it. don't think barber will fix that.
