Found a clean street bike, clean title in my price range. I know '02 is a little older, but it's fuel injected and looks to still have decent aftermarket support.

Known issues or reasons I'd want to avoid the '02 GSX-R600?

    Many thanks.

    OR SV1000

Now a fully-prepped SV1000 is an option for the same money.

Opinions for a newbie track day rider (one track day under my belt)?

    Thanks again.

i have a older gsxr 600 in that year range for my dad to ride, its a super reliable bike has 35k mi on it and not a problem yet out of it. as far as performance its extremely wider compared to the modern 600's, the brakes arnt the best but work decent, the suspension on a bike that old will need to be gone through for optimal performance, and obviously the powere wont be on par with the modern bikes. but all in all there not a bad bike. i enjoy toying around on ours every once in a while.

As for the sv1000, i have only riden one on time so i don't know too much about them. felt very heavy and definatly didnt handle like the 650s do. can you find a sv650 in your area in your price range? honestly that would be a great bike for you start on.

Pass on the SV1000. Not as reliable as the 600. 600 will be more fun and handle better for you.
