My brakes were fading after 10 min in every session at ACC last weekend (awesome wekend btw) so I was told I should get racing brake pads and lines. A whole brake upgrade!

I have a 09 R6 so please share your experiences. I'm currently running stock pads/lines and still same brake fluid!!!

    Thanks STT family

I would not recommend racing pads. Most take a lot of time and heat before they're performing at 100%.

Any known-brand solid steel braided brake line will do. Galfer, spiegler, etc..

Brake fluid - just make sure it's what your manual calls for. Problably dot4..

The "fade" you're feeling is probably combo of the old brake fluid and a poor bleed.

Start with a brake bleed. Should've been done appx three years ago.

And to clarify - I meant a full flush of the system's fluid.

Pads and brake lines are cheap. I say do it. Its a fun mod and you'll be glad you did it. As far as I'm concerned get any steel braided lines (others may not agree). Then get a basic standard sintered (not carbon) racing pad like DP, Ferrodo, SBS or whatever, just stay away from EBC. Use a high quality racing fluid like Motul RBF600 or I use AP Racing PRF fluid. Its a little expensive but great stuff. Dont waste your money on a bleeder, just bleed it by hand.
Keep in mind that brake pads heat cycle just like tires. I change my pads out with about 1/2 the pad material left for best performance. Good luck!!!

I wish Pads and lines were a Whole Brake Upgrade.... I agree with what Everything Rob says above.. (Except staying away from EBC) I have had very good results using their Pads...

Galfer or fren Turbo lines, ate super blue fluid. Stock pads are usually pretty good, but check out EBC HH pads or ferodo xrac.

I'd add that when changing and bleeding, clean the calipers really good and look for stuck pistons.

I def need to flush brake fluid and get stainless steel brake lines but what do you guys think about brake pads. Should I change them? I look at vesrha brake pads and they are about $125.00 @ stg

    Should I wait for pads?

Ferodo xracs are about 50-55 a side, and ebc hh's are even cheaper I believe

I would hold off on the pads. Do the lines and get some good fluid (its pretty cheap<$20) and see where you're at. Chances are you'll love your brakes after just those two upgrades.

If you're running your original brakes I suggest changing your fluid and pads now because they are definitely past their service life. Worry about the lines after.

I have the Vesrah RJL and like them - linear, predictable. A tad more initial bite would maybe be nice but they're swell overall. I'll probably use them again.

I will do that then test them out again. If problem not fixed I will have to buy brake pads with Kenny

Don't hold off on new pads. They are a service life item more so than lines.

Just the change to steel lines will make a HUGE difference in the level of feel from the brakes. I have Spiegler and they have been great. I'm always amazed when I'm in dealerships and try the brakes on new bikes. Even when brand new rubber brake lines still have some degree of give to them that you can feel once you're used to steel lines.

FWIW I seriously enjoy these https://www.motomummy.com/brake-pads/carbone-lorraine-sbk5-front-brake-pads/

Price is right, and they've managed to get me stopped in every situation but one...

i just did a brake overhaul on my 07 r6...

    vesrah rjl pads
    galfer ss lines
    motul rbf600

i like the vesrah pads. they don't have an aggressive initial bite and give you a lot of control through the corners. save yourself some money and buy from riders discount - $98 (ask for TJ). while your at it, i'm sure they'll beat whatever price you were looking to pay for lines as well. brakes are equally as important as tires, don't skimp out.
