Well it's cold, can't ride, and staring at the track day schedule...
So naturally spending money on track stuff is one way to get by :)

I'm toying with idea of picking up a pit bike. I just want something fun to ride around the paddock (or the neighborhood at home, give kiddos a ride, etc). I imagine using it at track for lunch runs, haul a case of beer as needed, or general paddock / campground mischief. Being able to go 2 up around paddock is helpful. I don't need to ride it on the street, as I still have "big bike" for the street.

I've narrowed the focus to a Grom 125 vs Ruckus 50.
I like the Grom for little extra power, looks/behaves like a bigger bike, and with clutch can have fun with it (wheelies, etc) at home. I'd mount a rack / milk crate for hauling stuff. It also has pit bull trs pins avail so easy to toss in the trailer. Downside for practicality may be the clutch - may making hauling things around a little more difficult, I'd guess?

I like the Ruckus because looks funky, automatic / flat floor for hauling stuff, and its a bit cheaper. But downsides are low power, can it fit a passenger for short runs, will I regret not getting Grom, etc etc.

For those with more experience, any recommendations either way? Even if not Grom / Ruckus specific, the Minibike vs Scooter argument is just as good in terms of practicality / fun.

    Any advice is much appreciated!

This... why use a clutch around the pits when not needed? Especially 2up on something that small

Zuma, you can carry ur rims in between ur legs while riding. you cannot do that on a grom.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I went the scooter route which I think will be much more practical, but ended up with a Ruckus just because of a good deal. It will be underpowered compared to the Zuma 125, but bonus is it can be registered as moped under 50cc with no license plates or insurance, plus I don't plan to use it anywhere outside of the paddock / neighborhood. Worst comes to worse, I will do a motor swap for more power :)
