STT does not require numbers, you can run whatever you like.

VerikP, Good to see you here. Hopefully a lot of the Reduc regulars will be visiting this site.

Question for STT regulars. If there aren't numbers on the bikes how do the cornerworkers instruct course control that someone needs assistance/black flag? Just curious.

Probably something along the lines of ... "Hey Jim, that black bike with rider wearing a red helmet coming into T4 right now - black flag him, I think he's leaking something."

    [shrug]

And incase I didn't say it already... WELCOME everyone! Unfortunately I won't be at the first STT event at Pocono on April 22-23 cause I'll be at Summit racing, but I'm sure I'll meet a lot of you sooner or later! Looking forward to a fun season with everyone!

Monte has state in the rider meetings many times (forgive me, I'm paraphrasing here...) that STT doesn't require numbers so that people who crash their street bikes can file a claim with their insurance company. Basically numbers (and timing) imply a contest of speed, which could be grounds for denial of a claim. OTOH, STT's structured, guided format could be considered a "performance riding school" and therefore eligible for claims. I think i got that more or less right...

Of course, as always, those of us with unregistered trackday only bikes are sol, but we're so good that we don't ever crash, right?

    Cheers,

    Lance

Lance, that makes sense. I actually put a claim on my bike years ago at a Reduc event. The fact that it wasn't a timed event or a competition enabled me to get my bike covered. I felt so guilty I never did it again. Not that I couldn't have put it down on the street but I was pushing it (my skill level that is :) ) and wouldn't have gone down if my brain was engaged.

I too am looking forward to meeting everyone at the events. Good luck racing sportbikerchic!

You need to hang out with a better class of people. :p I had to change my name. People got that wrong idea that I might be fast. With the RS sig. no one's expectations are to high. Sadder still is the fact that I may be faster on the RS. Yours looks great. You just couldn't wait to wheel her out into the sun and buzz around the neighborhood could you? Any of the neighbors put their house up for sale yet?

It is going to be a good riding season!

That is a picture from last November after I got most of the stickers off. The tail section is now black and looks perdy schweeet.

And yes, I did take it up and down the street the other day. I did the usual "why won't this f'ing thing start" for about 5 minutes.......then remembered to turn the gas on........then after I put it away for the night and woke up the next morning......realized I forgot to turn it off......DUH!!!!!!

The part before this made perfect sense, but you lost me & everyone familiar with your past with this part. Unless it's simply your plan now that you have an unregistered trackday only bike.

If the rules specifically state "not a timed event, not a race..." then you could insure your trackday only bike. There's a certain, now former Reduc director, who totalled his RC30 and insurance did pay out. They tried to NOT pay but ultimately HAD too. Reduc had that part in the rule book, No lap timers allowed, this is NOT racing. Basic definition of a Reduc Track Day was "closed road course ride". It came down to the day basically being what you wanted it to be. Follow the passing rules in your class, respect the others in your class and don't crash, have fun. Go.
