Thanks to all the STT staff for a great 2 days this weekend, boy it was hot!!! This was my first time at RRR, a great fast track, lap times got quicker and by sunday was doing a 1'28 in the "I" group. Could someone tell me what times the staff were doing and the "A" group. I hope the Novice rider that went down on sunday afternoon and was taken away is ok, i was across from them in the pits (Black CBR600RR) and had been chatting to them all day, if the rider or his pal reads this let me know how its going. Mark, for us riders who rode on Sat, your new approach to us not having to have be at the riders safety meeting on Sun was a bonus. I think it worked well but may have to be done from wekend to weekend depending on what happened on Sat as you may want to speak to us all again if there were a lot of Red flags.
Thanks again STT, great job. :D

I have to agree. This was my first track day and STT does a great job. I really enjoyed working with the track coaches and all of them were very helpful. By the end of the weekend I was turning lap times consistently in the mid 1:30's. Yeah I know, not really fast but I was pround seeing since it was my first time.

I had heard that the guy on Sunday that went down in our group had possibly broken his leg. Hope all is well with him.

I will be doing more track days. I am hooked!

Thanks again to STT and Mark for all that they do.

I guess that kind of blows my 1:30's doesn't it?

Mark - any news on the guy that crashed in turn 1 on Sunday?

1:30's are totally respectable for your first track day! Remember us boys do over 50 track days a year so we got a few more laps on the track than you do. Dont worry, speed comes with time, dont rush.

Our report on the turn one crash was a broken collar bone and a sore leg.

I was happy with my 1'28, I'm sure i could have gone quicker especially into turn 1, i was braking way to early. I know i need to work on my body position, ie, hang off a bit more and the position of my feet on the pegs as the toe sliders took a lot scraping. I am also thinking of getting rear sets as i think it will help with more lean angle and take away the risk of the stock pegs touching. Mark, or anyone, are they easy to fit, i was thinking of getting the ones from STT.

The guy who broke his collar bone was back home on Monday and is doing fine. I don't know him but his friend is on another message board that I frequent and that was the report he gave. No broken leg.

This was my first time at Roebling Road. I'm not staff, but I was able to turn 1:17's by Sunday morning. I destroyed my brand new front tire in the process though. After talking to various people I've heard a lot of opinions from suspesnion problems, to tire pressure, to too soft of a compound, to a bad tire. Anyway, it caused me to to take a tumble in turn 8 in the first session after lunch so I'm sorry for ending that session early for everyone.

It's just one of those things you learn from. It's the first time I've crashed in over a year and a half so I guess I can't complain too much.

Great event Mark. Lesley already has me signing us up for the RRR event in September. I appreciate the fact that you guys do such a great job of making the women riders feel welcome, and I really appreciate Larry for working with Lesley and encouraging her in her riding.

    Thanks again!!

    John

See you guys at Road Atlanta in August!

I am hoping to go to Atlanta in August and then back to Roebling in September.

Turn 1 was tough for me too. I found myself slowing to much and not carrying enough corner speed in to the turn.

Sounds like everyone had fun at Roebling. The new surface is nothing short of fantastic! Lots of grip on any line!

Turn one is very deceiving! You feel like you need to brake a lot harder than you actually do. You get into the turn and think to yourself..."Dag-nab-it, I could have taken that faster."

Sounds like some really good lap times too! I was running in the 1:21's in the "I" group. I want to get into the 1:18's on my next trip...I just have to grow bigger jewels before I go   :D

That was my second time there, was there in March with Nesba. I ran 1:34's in March, ran 1:25's this time. I am also in the "I" group.
Thank to Mark and all the STT personnel for a good time.

But I'll definately be at kershaw with STT in sept. Great event Mark and the guys!! Control riders were great professionals and i learned a lot about going fast and being smooth!! Can't wait to get back out there! :)
