Who's going? The 22nd is also the Pro School- it looks awesome, I'm tempted to go as a customer! I'll be there on the 21st for sure.
Here's a little updated info for next monday: There are a few things are going on that will make this event a little different than usual: •Doug Polen is scheduled to attend with his 1 on 1 Riders School http://www.gopolen.com/ •On Tuesday, the 22nd, The STT PRO SCHOOL is on South while our event is on North, Please help get the word out. The cost on this is $275. •The guys from MOTO-CLINIC will be there again with tire service as well as performing mechanical work. If you need any parts or service give them a call and they can deliver trackside (516) 442-1118. •The people at MMC have asked us if we could tighten up on some of the rules such as NO PETS and they want us to discourage bringing visitors and small children to the track. For those of you needing hotel accommodations I would recommend the LODGE at Rock Hill (845) 796-3100 Gates will be open for us again Sunday night 5:00-7:00pm so we can set up and drop trailers, gates will open for us again 6:30am. Riders Meeting is at 8:30 and the track goes green promptly at 9 with the Intermediate group. Last thing, if you are on facebook check out our page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sportbike-Track-Time-East/115311275171464 See you there
That sucks about not having visitors and young children. My wife and four year old. Really enjoyed coming with me it was a nice family outing for us. Is this a concrete rule now?
there was an incident at our last event, where a group of unsupervised children were seen throwing rocks from the North Paddock onto the north course. this could have caused some considerable safety hazards with debris on the track... Needless to say, the management has expressed some concern, both about this, as well as the number of visitors who were coming and going throughout our last event. Reading between the lines, I won't tell you that your immediate family aren't welcome to come to the event with you, especially if they're helping you in whatever capacity during the day. I will ask everyone to consider the paddock as a busy thoroughfare, with nearly constant traffic and as such, it is a less than ideal place for a small child to spend the day. please keep in mind that Monticello Motor Club is a private club and that we are privileged to have dates there. As a private, members only facility, they have some legitimate (and some overblown) concerns regarding the security of their facilities and their members property, as well as their responsibilities from a liability standpoint. Also, understand that the track and facilities were designed first and foremost for participants- and not for spectators and as a result, there are few places for visitors to watch and almost zero amenities for children. they're new at this motorcycle trackday stuff and didn't intend to have non-members ride motorcycles there when they built the track. As a result, they're trying to figure out how to negotiate this, taking one little, hesitant baby step at a time. Also, we're still getting to know each other and we (us motorcyclists in general, and our organization in particular) would like to make a good impression with our new friends at MMC. we need to build trust and confidence; we're working on it, but we need everyone's help. please just use some common sense. I expect things to eventually loosen up and hopefully we'll have camping (and BBQ!) soon. see you monday!
Lance I do understand 100% I did not know about the rock thing. And that is understandable, It is not a place for children as they do not understand what could happen from there actions. I was just looking at the piont of view that i found something that i enjoy to do and my wife and child could come and enjoy with me. Hopfully everyone can follow the rules and not ruin it for everyone! But before i let my 4yearold go to the track i did explain the rules to her. And she listens very well to the piont that we where asked if she was "ok" because she did not leave the trailor or popup with out me or my wife holding her hand. It was really cool to watch her watching the bikes she really enjoyed herself. So if they can not go with me i will be there by myself and that is not good either.
I hadn't heard about that either! Wish I could be there for these days. Monticello is up for position as my favorite track(s). Facilities are awesome and it's half the distance for me than VIR...never mind Gratton, Barber, Calaboogie! Have fun folks...see you next time I hope! (And BOMO team...behave yourselves. There's no 'older' responsible person to keep you under control!!!)
