Qualifier: I am a noobee here, and I did not search the forum prior to posting (shame on me).

I am sure that this has been addressed previously and thoroughly, but.........

Is there a consensus etiquette concerning re-sale of event days with respect to pricing? If yes, then what is it?

    Thanks........

    Lee

If the event is not sold out, you will take a big loss. The only time you will get what you paid for a track day is if the event is sold out.

I had to sell 3 track days this year due to injury. The lesson to be learned here is to not buy them too far in advance.

This! Not many events would you even be able to sell spots for a premium..mainly just the end of season barber events, otherwise you're selling spots for what you paid or at a discount..

I have friends that wait till the last minute because they have to work hard to gather the money for this event. Whenever I cannot attend, I pass the spot to a fellow track rider for the same price. I do this because it is the right thing to do to your fellow track riders.

Plus you never know when you'll need a favor back. I have crashed a few times. One time I would have lost a complete track day if it wasn't for a complete stranger that decided to share a set of clip-ons and asked only that I shipped them back to him when I was done with them, no profit, not even a beer he accepted. So whenever I have a chance, I try to do the best I can for other riders. Do yourself and other fellow riders a favor and sell for what you paid. Thanks.

First buying in advance is suggested not discouraged. I sell out northern events at 97.3% of the time (yes thats a legit percentage).

It is NOT POLICY but we do apply credit to your account when you are unable to attend an event or group of events due to circumstance beyond control. IT'S RAINING IS NOT a circumstance we deem as part of that policy.

It is case by case approved.

Naturally you can sell on forum, but price increasing is something that we have not had to contend with and the community will likely not be happy with it. My suggestion is to sell it or email us about a credit if the reason is legitimate.

Yep I have loaned tools and tire warmers and expected zero back (other than my stuff) I have never had a bad experience doing it. I sold a track day when I was having bike troubles and was going to give the guy a deal (it was Sunday morning) he insisted on paying what I did. So he had fun and I only took the hit for getting there. I would have been thrilled to give it to him at half price and did offer.

So the lesson for me is everyone helps everyone and we all win. If scalping douches come in I hope they buy up days and get zero $$$ back. That way at least the non-scum get more open track :rawk:

It seems that the consensus on here is that the O.P. is asking about selling spots at a more than paid for price......which may or may not be the case. Maybe he is asking because he is trying to buy a spot and someone is trying to scalp him on pricing! Either scenario is bad news, but don't jump to conclusions about the O.P. unless it's really him wanting to do the scalping!

True I just took it as a discussion that he was curious on, nothing else.

The key is when they sell out. My error was letting preseason excitement get the best of me and buying a load of events right at the beginning of the season. Bad idea.

We all play the odds of an event filling up, vs weather vs any reason we might not be able to go. (bike exploded, serious injury, mom died, etc)

When I was a customer, I always bought March and October Barber as soon as the schedule was posted. If, for some reason I couldn't make it, I knew I could sell the spot as it would be sold out, (at face value):thumb:

It is much riskier, in my mind to wait and hope it doesn't sell out, (when it always does) ;)
