This topic came up on the Triumph675.net message boards today: http://www.triumph675.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9841&highlight= Basically the question is this: How do we organize a track day catering specifically to our brand / model of motorcycle? How do the RC51 guys organize their days? I think the site would be willing to co-sponsor, or at least guarantee a certain number of riders. Of course everyone else would be welcome, too, but the idea is to get Triumph 675 riders together and find out which color is truly the fastest. Any thoughts are appreciated, espcially RC51, R.O.K., and others with similar experience. -Tom
We the RC51.org group set up a track date(s) with STT based on what is available at the track we wish to have the event at & they give us pricing for what we want to include at our event (catering, photos, special evening events). It is then our duty to set the appropriate pricing for STT's costs plus the cost of our own frills (t-shirts, entertainment etc), fill all the spots, collect the funds, organize the roster including handling the never ending slew of cancellations etc... STT will require a certain amount of the total cost as a deposit early on. Additonally we like to have give-aways at the dinner so there is quite a bit of preparation & begging for parts from sponsors & vendors etc... All in all it is a pretty big undertaking & requires some very trustworthy appointees with a vested interest in your group to pull it off cause it is a lot of work & deals with fairly large sums of money. Luckily I have the best friends in the world that have prior experience from running their own trackdays & donate their time selflessly to insure we have an excellent event year after year.
