I noticed that the STT group seems to love the Power Pilot series from Micheline. I had them on my R6 and experienced a huge problem with side grip: Moroso kicked my butt. I bought my SV with Pirelli Dragon slicks and love them. Are Micheline dealers the only vendors on location? If so WHY?

STT is a Michelin dealer. So that is the only tire offered at a STT trackday. There are a number of reason though why your powers slipped on ya. If you changed bikes and tires and they're was a big difference I would think it might of had to do with the bike to.

I am sure that the bike was a large part of the problem...lack of skill could have been applied also  I did not realize that STT was a "dealer" so that would make sense. Thank You for the info.

If you are running an SV650 and 675 Daytona and the Powers work great. We ride ours quite aggressively and have not experienced much slip until they are at the end of their life cycle.

If the bike 750 or 1000 then they will slip more. Most of the staff will run something completely different. PR5's/PR4's.

If you let Monte know what is happening he will hook you up with a better combination for your bike.

it is a 650. The only tires I have run on it are the Pirelli's. The cost seems to be close, approx 350.00, per set. Is there a need to change? Still new to the tire game, so any info is greatly appreciated

What Pirelli Model are you running? (Diablo, Diablo Corsa, Corsa III, Super Corsa.. etc....)

Pilot Powers for that bike are >$230 a set and we have a staff members who won a CCS Championship on Pilot Powers.

Edit - Michelin does not make a slick for the SV650. Bridgestone makes and EXCELLENT slick and it's a good bit less $$$ than those fancy Eyetallian tires.

Unfortunately I found your reply a little late...I bought a set of those pirelli's Dragons. The cost was only $380.00. Next time I will attempt either the Michelin or Dunlops.

taekwondochamp.......Did you get your suspension set up properly on the R6 when you were running those tires? I have seen the pilot powers endure a lot of punishment from everything including liter bikes. I cant help but think that the suspension was maybe a bit to stiff and forcing the tire to push on you. I have to admit though, I have used the Dragon Slicks on my ZX10R and I loved them. I never had any problems with grip. Ive experienced the same with the pilot powers.

No, I did not have the suspension changed on that bike. I went with the medium street settings that were already dialed in. The SV, on the other hand, is completly set up by a pro with Ohlins gear. Hopefully they will continue to make me look good at Atlanta!!
