Ive been looking at small upgrades for over the winter and have managed to find a rear penske shock for my bike. The shock shows wear and will probably need a spring and a service but its prices at 425. not sure if i should pull the trigger on this. Bike right now has OEM shock in worn condition.

service will be about $200 to 250 and the springs probably $80. that being said which model shock is it?

if its the triple, go for it. look at the reservoir, does it have 1 knob or 2 (they are stacked, one small, one larger). only 1 knob its the double, 2 knobs triple.

Just spent 1100 through Ken. I can't wait to put it all together. Go through him he'll hook you up. Always has for me.

One advantage of buying through Ken is trackside service and setup. If that sucker has issues at a trackday, I want the guy I bought it from to be there to fix it and dial it in.:thumb:

I know but 1100 is just out of my range for now.

looks to me like that's the triple adjustable shock. Probably a pretty good deal at that price

Well I spent a little extra. It was originally around 600 but I bought more stuff. Now I need over time. In my personal opinion I'd rather rebuild the front than have a better rear. Most accidents I've seen have been from front end tucks. If you can have more traction from a better front end set up then it's less likely. I've ridden the past few Yeats at the track on stock, and worn out, suspension. Most of my problems were caused by nervousness in the front. The issues I had with the rear were from sliding from the tires. In my opinion the rear sliding isn't anywhere near as scary, or difficult to fix, than the front. In the three years I've had this rear shock it's never been serviced until now. I'll be doing RA on Nov 11.I won't feel the difference until then.

Call Ken at Superbike Italia. Hell give you great advice even if you don't buy from him.

I've been using the Ohlin's FPK(fork piston kit). At $260 a nice alternative to a full cartridge kit. Obviously proper springs and set-up are still required.

You are in Indy, go talk to Matt Carr at Indy Ducati he is real good. When I raced I always had Thermos Man ( Mike Fitzgerald) do my suspension and it was always amazing. There are alot of good suspension guys out there that can do really great things with stock parts, just got to call and talk to them.
