I'm currently in the market for some new rubber. I'm currently running Michelin PP 2ct (190/55) on a K6 1000.
I might ride 1000 miles this year on the street......if I'm lucky. Probably be more like 750. I will be doing between 5- 8 Track days this year and currently ride in upper "I". Also planning on getting my PN License with WERA this year and start racing next year.

My front currently still has 3/4 of a street season left but the rear is due for a change now. My plan is to swap out both tires (F/R) with something different this season. I have been running these tires for a few years with ZERO complaints and ZERO issues.

But....I'm looking for a newer tire that's a bit stickier. I know these PP 2CT's are a bit old, but when you find a tire that works well...you tend to stay with it. Besides...every year that goes by I find myself less and less on the street. Of course a few years ago when I first mounted the PP 2CT tires, I was putting 4-6K street miles on the bike a season with zero trackdays. Now.....I have easily come to realize that people are idiots and the streets are boring! lol

I have been looking at these:

    Dunlop Q3 $246.40 (After Mail-in Rebate)
Bridgestone RS10 (Street) $244.00 (No Rebate)
    Super Corsa SP V2 $286.00 (After 40.00 Mail-in Rebate)

Has anyone been riding on one and made the switch to one of the others listed? What was your comparison?
Any other tires you would recommend?

Also....can someone fill me in on the 200 series tires. Seems they are always the first to go when the season starts.

Is it more contact patch at full lean?

    Thanks in advance

I assume budget is a factor, or I would say buy another set of wheels and have one with some sticky race tires mounted up. IMO if you are running upper I, it may be time to look into some race tires. I know many people say a Q3 can run an A pace, and I am sure some people can do that, but to me the margin for error just isn't there on a street tire, when you start picking up the pace. A race tire is just so much more confidence inspiring. Yeah, you need to keep heat in them, but at an upper I pace on a 1K. I don't see that being an issue.

I am pretty sure I in no way answered your question. :D

I'm on my second set of rs-10's. I like them and have run bridgestone for many years. I'm a fast street rider, did my first track day at road a Halloween and got bumped to intermediate my first day. That being said, I like the rs10 right now, but I'm probably close to the limit on them, but out of all the bridgestones I have run, these have been my favorite. Just don't know where they get racing street from, the first set I ran, all street miles, netted 950 miles out of the rear on a cbr1000rr. The set now has 1 full dry track day in novice and I would say is 40-50% wore, but there was a bit of cold tearing. If the rear wears out Saturday at barber, I'm gonna try a set of michelin power cups. But with no more street miles than you do, I would go to a dot race tire imo.

Try the new Dunlop GPA Pros. Warmers not absolutely necessary,(But recommended.)

I did forget to mention that I do have single temp tire warmers and that I plan on getting the bump to "A" asap.
Of course I'll be the slowest guy in A.....but that's alright with me. With time comes more speed.

I would love to buy a set of spare wheels...but yes, working on a budget right now as I just dropped a big coin on front and rear suspension and not going to skimp on the rubber.

Maybe later this year I will grab some spares to work with for next year.....but cant right now.

You may be surprised and not be the slowest one in A by far. As many have said, its not about speed. If you really are planning to try to move to A, and already have warmers, I would make the jump to a race tire...this may kill your street riding though. Part of being in A is the ability to react to changing situation calmly and smoothly. Having that extra margin with a better tire, I think, is an important part of that. If you are on the edge of a tires ability need that little extra, it may not be there.

Do you NEED a race tire now? Maybe not. Will you love them? yes. I like my equipment to be better then I am.

Great points. Unfortunately, slicks is not where I am heading until the end of the season or beggining of next season as I will still ride on the street this year. Next year the bike may go full race conversion or I may buy just a dedicated bike. Thats why I was asking about the 3 tires mentioned. Unless there are other/better options (besides slicks or pure track tires).

Power Supersport Evos would be a good step up from the PP. Good track tire. No warmers required! :)

If you plan to ride the same tire (in A), and then ride them on the street....Q3 all the way...Go ahead and heat them on Medium (not high) for the track..

    I have rs10 on 1000rr and I did 1000 miles on rear.
I did full track at autobahn in Joliet IL, some Starve Rock riding, and 400 miles at Smokey Mountains and tire is gone.
I was running them 30 f cold psi and 30 r cold psi but I increase rear to 32 cold psi and tire looked way better after a session. Before I was running Q3's 30 cold psi front and rear, but rear rs10 is way softer and it doesn't last as long as Q3.
I'm getting another rs10 and I hope I will be able get at least 3 track days.
