I have some track time on a BT-020 does that count

Now there is a crappy tire.
Currently using a Mich PRC on the front and a Medium Rear, PR4 maybe?. No major evidence of blueing on either , but well I'm not very quick .

    Re: BT 016

All reports are that the BT-016's are very good tires.

    BT-016

Went to try some BT-002s and my dealer was sold out so he cut me a deal to try the BT-016s. So far I like them. I would by them again.

I like the way they feel on my SV and unless Pirelli offers the DC3 in 160 rears I am gonna stick with PP's!

If you want a dual compound go with Pilot Power 2CT (our front is dual compound where Pirellis DC III are a single compound... which they sort of leave that out in all the Pirelli marketing hype). A 2CT is a great all around tire and si SMOKING good in the rain.... Plus you can buy them from..................wait for it....... ME! ;)

Slicks all the way!!! I know I cant ride them to there potential but its great piece of mind. And the price difference is not that bad. Try the new rear 1847 slick awesome. Ive got 3 trackdays on the slicks and they still look great. Will be riding them this monday at Mid-o.

I like my tires Black, Round and, New :D

Now lets talk pressure..... Start with a common pressure ie 30/30
cold then go out and ride them (be sure to take a few laps to get them HOT) then check your hot pressure and there should be only 4 lbs increase..... if the increase is more then 4 lbs you should add 1 lb. and if there is lower then 4 lb increase lower the pressure by a LB. then repeat .

Before you guys start screaming please try this.

This system works on my SMR510 and a 996 ducati

FYI - There is a new crop of low pressure rears out there (Michelin Power Race) that work best 22-24 PSI cold.

Bridgestone BT-014' s - Great traction, quick response, predictable...however, 0 track days on them and only 3300 street miles before the rear was toast. And no I dont do the burnout / stunt thing
Michelin Pilot powers - Great mileage, decent traction, however, once traction goes away it is non-existant and the turn in speed is WAY slow. I've nearly high and low sided quite a bit on these. I have 2 track days and 5500 street miles on them and still have about another 3000 miles of street riding left! UNFLIPPINBELIEVABLE! Yet I think they are probably much better for street only riding.
Bridgestone BT-016 - OK, I have 2 track days on these, about 1600 stree miles so far. The best traction I've experienced, they come with 6/32 on the rear and now have 5.8!!! So mileage looks like it will at least equal the Michelin. The traction on the 16's is very predictable, I was able to drift around turns with no loss of confidence. The bike maintained the line flawlessly. I was lower on these tires than any of the others and never had the tire give up. (I honestly went into a few turns at Barber and the D.R. at Tally and figured I would lose it, but the tires held and my GSXR and I lived)! The turn in on the 16's is much faster than the Michelins and found that I could go deeper into turns because I could break later, instead of spending that track space setting up for the turn time.
Also, the 16's have 3 different compounds on the rear and 2 on the front!!!
    I will keep everyone posted.

The Dunlop N-Tecs are likewise. Best is to start with the recommended pressure and work from there.

Started two years ago on Pilot Powers at Barber and they worked great. Good grip and last a long time and I only had a few manageable slides over the two day weekend, but nothing too crazy.

Next track day I tried the 2ct's at Nashville and I slid all over the place and not necessarily in a control manner either. Two big rear end slides a slight tuck of the front coming into Turn 2.
I chocked it up to being the track surfaces as it was not as nice a
barber and the temps were 95*+ all day.

Regardless I stepped up to the Power Race PRC front and PR5 rear this year for a little more assurance since my pace was hindered at Nashville.
My track day was at Mid Ohio on the 2nd and they handled beautifully... The most confident I've felt thus far on any tire and track. I will be running them again at Nashville Aug 2nd which will really give me a good point of reference, but definitely from now on Pilot Powers for the street and Power Race for the track.

A street tire looses the ability to adhere (provide traction) as the temperature increases. This is because the thickness of the tread (need thick tread to provide mileage) and the compound (Michelins is by FAR the best all-weather compound) cannot shead the internal heat build up. So in 90 degree heat they (any tire DC III, 2CT, 016, etc..) will get greasy in race track conditions.

You could shave about 50% of the tread off and probebly get the same track life but have them not get greasy... Sounds crazy but at Daytona thats what we do on slicks.. keeps them cooler.

+1 Got to Autobahn on the 23rd and had to immediately buy new tires. Rode brand new Powers with the sticker on them and had no problems at all. Tires are dynamic!
