For all of you who have riden 600's and litre bikes on the track are the 600's really that much easier on tires at the track than a 1000? Do you necessarily get more life or trackdays out of tires on a 600 compared to a thousand? Thanks for any input fellas.
I'd say it's easier to get carried away & ruin a tire early on a 1000. The way you treat a tire early on seems to have a significant effect on its life. I've ruined tires early on my GSXR750 due to not being patient & letting them warm up properly, but then I've done the same thing on an old F2, although it was certainly less likely to happen. With todays crop of 600s, it's very possible. Tire warmers & proper set-up can singnificantly extend tire life. A lack of patience & 1000cc can significantly shorten it. Somewhere in between, there lies a happy medium.
I can't tell a difference. I'm lucky to get 3 days out of a rear on my 6. It's about the same on my 1000. Then again, I'm no Matt Mladin.
i think the rider is a bigger variable than the cc's of the bike. i vote...not much difference at our level.
Front tires, not much difference, you will notice it in the rear though depending on how fast you are. There are a number of variables, main one being throttle control. You can really abuse a rear on a 1000 if your not careful.
There is NOTHING like leaving a big fat darkie from the bustop all the way through T10 or from T1 all the way to T2 on a big twin. ,,,,I say...SMOKE EM IF YA GOT EM!!!!!! (Then come buy some new ones from us! LOL!!!)
How about from the crest of the sweeper all the way to the bowl, while passing customers on the outside, with two staffers on your tail?
I remember hearing the phrase "spin to win". Wait a minute I now remember that was "skin to win". Anyway skin em if you got em!!!!!
Hey you guys always told me to steer with the rear Then all of a sudden it got really quiet, then i hurt my rear! Just whack it on dirk says. Yep everybody needs a 1000 to go fast trust me. Oh and don't forget to let others (stt staff ride it). The guys name Dave know how to handle em.....
Words you DON'T want to hear when you are strpped down in the back of the EMS Unit..... "Excuse me sir, the door handle just broke off out here do ya think you can open it up from teh inside for us??"
I always thought you made sure you had a big get off so they would have to red flag the session. That way Troy would have an easier time pushing his bike back to the pits after his measly little crash (only separated shoulder).
