This pretty much covers why I run slicks.

    I've been running a 1246A slick on the front & a PR 190/55 Medium (or a PR5 if I can't get the 190/55) on the back :)

The front slick lasts forever... you will literally burn out the catalyst before the rubber is gone & I set my fastest lap ever at Barber on a front that had 10 or 11 days on it (with warmers of course)

I just spooned on a PRC at the last Barber event to do a comparison. Compared to the 1246A it steers quicker (almost twitchy) & lacks a little bit of grip at high lean angles, but is still better than any other front tire I have been able to get my hands on. I have no idea how the PRC will do for longevity, but I have a feeling it is going to wear very well...

Now due to some inclement weather I put on some 2 year old OEM fitment Pilot Powers (came on my GSXR) at the last TGP event & used them again at Nashville. They aren't race tires, but they are still incredible... They hardly wear at all, don't require warmers, heat up within a lap & move around very predictably whether hot or cold. I plan on using them at most of the tracks I am instructing at (with the exception of Barber where I am always chasing that one perfect lap). Plus like I said the ones I have are 2 years old & OEM tires not even the good aftermarket ones we get so I'm looking forward to trying a fresh set.
