I am a new member this year and I have purchased Mid-Ohio (novice group) trackdays for April 28-29. Will I recieve a time schedule or anything telling me what gate to enter, what time to be at the track, classroom time - location, etc? Is camping available for trackdays? Do we park trailers inside the fenced pit area? I've been to Mid-Ohio for the AMA races several times but never a trackday. Any help as what to expect would be great. I know it's a lot of questions (probably dumb questions to some of you) but I am new to STT. Layda, Mike 8)
I'll answer what I can Time ? Use gate 3 (registration gate) off Steam Corners Road You will sign a track wavier at guard shack and they can tell you where in the pits we are. You then need to find the STT sign in table to sign in and get your group/tech sticker. Usually it is in the end garage of the center garage section. Take you bike to tech. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR GROUP STICKER. You will find out where the classroom is located at the riders meeting and the 1st class will start right after the riders meeting. Usually we can not camp inside the track, but you can camp outside the main track entrance (and some do). No restroom or power, but no charge. We have always been able to leave our trailers overnight in the pits inside the track between trackdays. If you have ANY questions just ask anyone with a STT STAFF shirt.
Thank you! That is some much needed information, because I was totally clueless as what to do once we got to the track. Anymore input from anyone is welcomed. Thanks again.
1000hio, Ill be up at midO for the 28th and 29th.. Ill also be in N class.. Ill give you my number and your more then welcome to call me and we can meet up. As I understand it 28th and 29th will be a 2pm to dusk, with kart in the morning.. Ill probably show up an hour before to sit up and get the bike ready.. I might be going solo this time, I know there's a few from C.O.R.E going... I also have a CBR 600rr...
Is the 29th and 30th in April? My schedule says April 28-29, which is Saturday and Sunday...?? BTW, good to hear from you again.
"As I understand it the 29th and 30th will be a 2pm to dusk, with kart in the morning.. Ill probably show up an hour before to sit up and get the bike ready" You will need more than 1 hr. 2pm is when bikes get on the track and first novice classroom. Before that you need to: find a pit space, unload your bike & stuff, sign up, get your bike through tech, gas the bike, set tire pressures and attend the riders meeting. 2 hrs early would be a better choice so you will not be rushed. You'll be surprise how fast time flies at the track, especially if it is your first trackday.
YES listen to Kozy! its been a long winter for me.. Last trackday was 29th of july last year at putnam... I was thinking normal track time was at 8 and I always got there at 7... ITs NOT its at 9... Sorry again just ignore me... Well Ill go back to lurking...
Will I get any info from Sportbike Tracktime or Mid-Ohio confirming times etc? What is the normal method? Just rely on people with past experience? Thanks again for the input you guys are giving.
Is this confirmed? The Mid-O site lists karts that weekend so I'm thinkin' it's true. Can anybody who's run a schedule like this say that it's a better or worse time frame than the usual 9am-5 or 6 pm?
I'm wondering that as well. It seems like a short time period for $375. (Sat and Sunday) 2pm to dusk is what, about 5 to 5 1/2 hours? That doesn't seem fair. That's about $37.50/ hour to ride the track.
We did the same time of year and time of day trackday last year and I really liked it. It is actually better than 9 am start time because the morning/overnight temps can still be cold, so by 2 the track (and air) temp have warmed up. Be warned that in late April at Mid O you could see warm temps or snow. Plus needing to be there by late morning is A LOT easier then getting there at 7am. Last year, after the event, I did not hear anyone complaining about the amount of track time they got.
I agree with the April temps and possible weather. I'm not complaining, I am just used to trackdays being 9am to 5pm with an hour lunch. I assume tracktime is approx 20 min. per hour for each class. Is this correct?
I contacted Mid-Ohio and got some info. The info packets are due to be sent out to registered riders this week. Both days are 2-8pm (Sat 28 and Sun 29) Of course they also suggest showing up early for tech inspection etc. Thanks for the help and hope to see some of you there. Layda, Mike
So they are sending out Info packets this year? I think last year I only got an email from them. I didn't receive an email this year. Just saw on my bank statement they took out the 350 for the trackday.. Thanks for the info...
Just got my email , doesnt say anything about times, but does tell you to confirm the time @ their web site Can't wait , Im a so lucky to have such a great track only an hour away . WHOOHOO
Yeah, the info packet came via email. Cover letter, directions to track, map of track, hotel info, and waiver.
Why thank you , yep its an awesome bike , suprises the heck out of some of the plastic fantastics . I still have it of course ,using a 91 FZR600 for a change of pace on the track . Did you ever check out the zrxoa.org when you had , great bunch of folks, really know how to make the Rex Fly .
