I guess I could have managed without any plastic. I didn't really need the instrument cluster or the foot peg on the right side or the tail section. The tweaked frame didn't really bother me all that much and I could have gotten used to the bent forks. Hmm, I wonder if I could have used duct tape to replace the chunk that got knocked off of my front wheel so that it would hold air again? I've never run over a person before. I don't want to do it again.
You guys are nuttin'. Ask anybody about the dent from a flyin' Frenchie, jinkster and t2 at gingerman!!!! Doug you still have the pics of my "backside" a week later? Everybody needs at least 1000cc's to go fast....
Damn Mary you have picture for everything don't you? Oh which reminds me, you did get you're check for keeping those ones of me in the vault didn't you? One of the craziest dismounts I ever saw was going into T1 at VIR South. My buddy low sided on the exit and slid with the bike off the track. No biggy, right? Wrong!!! He hit the curbing going off track and flipped through the air like a ragdoll. Lands on his shoulder and snaps his collar bone. A hard lesson to learn about warming up tires.
Ok that's it...before the end of this weekend I'm finding a scanner and figuring out this loading picture thing.... :? 8)
That number 10 yamaha on the first page looks like big Jim! He was telling about his get off this past weekend, and showed me his scar on his wrist from surgury. Not fun! I had my first crash ever last September at Putnam. I was just about all the way out of turn 8, ran ever so slightly wide, no big deal, crossed over the rumble strip and the bike went into the worst tank slapper I've ever experienced. Before I knew what was going on, I was tumbling down the track. The guy behind me said I highsided. The whole thing is still a bit of a mystery to me. About the only thing I learned from this is stay the hell away from that rumble strip! Luckily I had no major injuries. A mild concussion, broken toe, badly bruised shoulder, hip, knee. Probably should have gotten the shoulder checked out, it took about a month before it felt right again. But I was back on the track about a month later.
Let's not discuss stupid street crashes over the years , ok ? I put quite a few miles on bikes though so my crashes per mile ridden is still fairly good My only crash on the track was T5 at Barber last year (The lefthand U turn ) This was after about 10 trackdays I think . My first year owning a sportbike was the year before and I made it to a 1:46 but mainly 1:48's on the '04 R1 there . I had only managed 1:48's at Barber with my new trackbike (a 2000 F4 CBR ) and was nursing a broken collarbone from a street accident . For the whole year I had started tucking my knee in a bit so I would not drag . I figured I would work on other things and not lean as far for awhile . I was feeling good all day but when I decided to crank it up a little to try and get into the 1:46's I forgot to start putting my knee back out like I should . My wife on the observation deck and a friend riding behind me said I just rolled off the rear tire edge after I turned in . I was already down near the asphault so I just did a nice slide and got back on the bike without missing a session . Frame sliders saved the bike bigtime . Just a quarter size rash on the tail .
