I regret to inform everyone that Lance (SNAKE03RR) passed away earlier today from massive injuries sustained from a road ride accident. For those of you that knew Lance I am sure you will agree that Lance was a super nice guy and will be hugely missed. My heart goes out to his family and all that knew him.
Oh no! That's horrible. Lance was such a good guy. I'm so sorry to hear that. sheesh. my condolences to all who knew him. that's just terrible. Lance
Though I only knew him online, here and the Reduc forum, and never met him in person, his presence will be missed. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
I only got to know Lance this year sharing a garage with him at Beaver Run. What a nice guy, he will be greatly missed. Doug
Wow, we're all a little shaken up down here. We were just a few miles from where he died, enjoying the fantastic weather, as I'm sure he was. Chris http://www.philadelphiariders.com/gallery/album100/Hunsicker_026
I don't know him at all, but that seriously is not some good news to hear. I'm sorry to hear that. My prayers will go out to his friends and family.
RIP Lance! I don't think that I ever met him, but he was very active on the SBN boards. And the accident was only like five miles from my house. So sad. Be safe out there! Here's the article in the Morning Call newspaper: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/police/all-5fatalnov27,0,5277553.story They said it happened close to the Route 29 / Route 100 split, at the S curves.
Funeral The thread over here: http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/showthread.php?t=335496 has this info: That is today at 2pm. Anyone going? I suppose I could bail out of work early and ride up there.
jeesh. saw this on the wera board and came over here to see if this was you, gigantic. glad to hear it was a different lance from your area....but still very, very sad news. my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
I rode by the accident scene that day... traffic had been rerouted- I was going south on Rt. 100, too. oh man!
Hank, Lance rode a blue Suzuki K5. I've not been to Pocono enough to know if he was a regular there or not, but I'd assume so, as he only lived 45 minutes away.
I met lance about 4 times , I considered him a friend and a tutor. We would pit together @ Beaver Run . Yes he had a K5 for the track and I believe an SV1000 for the street. He was just a big kind hearted guy who rode very well. This nice weather brings us out , unusual for this time of year in these parts , he was taking advantage of it . He died doing something he loved , we all could be so lucky . Here's to you Lance, a good friend in the short time I met you , dammit this sucks Folks when you get a chance to ride in winter , please remember your riding gets rusty, I dont know the circumstances of Lance's crash , but pllleeaaasse be careful on the streets, they are unforgiving I got an email from him a week before, we had been talking about making the FZR track ready Thats the kind of guy he was
I don't know Lance but he's a Bro still. My condolences to his family and friends. This kind of news hurts.
Lance's track ride this year was the Blue/white K5 everyone has mentioned. In prior years he had a flat black 03 CBR 600rr with the number 10X. He frequented Pocono and Summit, and been to Beaver a couple times, VIR and probably more. His street bike was a blue and white TLR. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/96SNAKE/5C7B6572.jpg I've been posting the message below on forums where Lance knew people. Forgive me if it is too forward, I just want to make sure that anyone that may have known Lance has the opportunity to give something to the family. All the love from the community really meant alot to his family. Knowing how much he enjoyed motorcyles, and how many people he touched made yesterday a little bit easier for them. I don't think they realized how tightly knit the motorcycle community really is. If anyone would like to donate money in Lance's memory, some of his close friends and I, have set up an account. We would like to do something nice for the family so that they can remember Lance as we all knew him. Donations in memory of Lance can be paypal'd to: ForLance@gmail.com If you would like to send a check or money order: For Lance Fund c/o J. Kelly Grike 1912 Alberta Drive Whitehall, PA 18052 All donations will remain anonymous, and all money will go to the family in either gift or cash form. Thank you all, Kel
This has been a rough month for this stuff...there have been a couple of bad accidents over on the Ducati list also...one a racing crash where fortunately the rider, though sustaining some serious injuries, is up and hobbling about a few weeks later, and another, a long time Ducati list member and Moto Giro d'Italia participant, still riding his Duc well into his 70's, crashed on the street over the holiday and passed away in the hospital just yesterday. I only knew Lance in passing through prior events, but his enthusiasm for riding and writing on the boards will surely be missed in our little community. Unfortunately, that he left this world doing something that he loved at such a young age leaves me feeling a little hollow, as there's still so much more riding and living to be done and our time is short enough as it is. Condolences to his family...by having let him go to do what he loved they can now keep the memory of his true spirit in their hearts. Kath
