I'm thinking of doing VIR in Aug 2-4; I say thinking because I'm doing Roebling Road the weekend before and not sure if I want to be gone from home both weekends, especially since I'm gone half the year anyway (leaning heavily to saying hell yes I do, I'm single). The schedule says it is a TPM shared event. Since this would be my 2nd STT weekend, what is different about a TPM event? Also, I did North a few weeks ago with PRE, awesome course with the new pavement! Since the three day even is South for two days and North on the last day, do we have to move trailers? I'm assuming yes, but thought I'd ask.
North and South paddock are not near each other, yes you will have to move your trailer. You'll have to wait until the other paddock is clear since they usually run cars on North if the bikes are on South. I can't comment on TPM events since I haven't been to one but from what I've heard they're pretty similar to STT events.
Great Event.... I was there last year.. Same weekend as WERA... You can get in the South Paddock Fri PM... Set up and ride South Sat/Sun. Then move in the North Paddock SUN PM and we ride North Monday... Its a fantastic weekend and I will be trying to make it out again... And BTW I thought the South was just as fun as North... Maybe even a little better.... Great Place...
Well I just signed up for all three days! Looking forward to riding the South course! Now I hope my trailer doesn't have a tire blowout like last time. Found out the torsion axel was out of alignment at least... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
South is fun but can get a little crowded, turns 2-4 from the top of the hill to the bottom was my favorite section. Front straight is legit :wheel:
Will there be any suspension guys there? I'm thinking I'm going to be getting some Power SuperSports and may need some tuning done.
I will be there Sunday and Monday, what is the best plan for paddock and lodging - I'm used to Gingerman and Grattan, where you can set up a tent next to your pit spot and you are good to go. That doesn't appear to be the case at VIR, so what works best, camping at their designated site, staying at the onsite lodging, or a nearby hotel, and can you leave your stuff set up?
Not sure how it will be for sure, but when I was there a few weeks ago with PRE on the North course, they let guys set a tent in the grass. Most everyone else was sleeping in trailers or in their cars. Hotels are about 10-15 minute drive. See you there
I have ridden with both STT and TPM and with the exception of the novice program (STT wins on that one IMHO), I think you will find the two orgs run pretty similar days. I am still meeting people in the org myself but if you have questions and need help getting pointed somewhere just let me know. Of course it is my first time at VIR too, so I am going to useless in that aspect. I will be riding on Sunday-Monday coming down on Saturday. I have a mostly Black (with silver and red) ZX6, I will be pitted with a white buell (he will be ridding all three days) Glenn (TPM) actually reminds me alot of Nick (STT North, haven't ridden a day with Trevor yet). Emphasis on fun, safe and go fast. They both run a very customer focused day. If you are not happy, have a question, comment or suggestion on something let Glenn know.
should be at least two of us coming over from CLE on Sat to do both tracks (Sun and Mon). From the sounds of it, camping near the South track should be straightforward and convenient - we can set up our tent and camp Sat nite and even Sun nite (instead of moving our tent to somewhere near the N track paddock, where camping seems limited). ...that is unless someone has suggestions for a better setup?
That was my plan, I am doing Sunday-Monday as well, seems silly to move on sunday night. Might as well just pack up the tent and move in the morning.
well I will no longer be attending. I had a malaria scare this past weekend since I recently got back from Africa, but thankfully no malaria. I am however laid-up with the worst damn flu I've ever had and have decided to put my health over going to the track. Last thing I want to do is pass out on the bike...that would suck. Hope you all have a great time, sorry I won't be there.
Ok, here's my Super Tonic recipe for you. 1 Qt Raw Apple Cider Vinegar One handful each of: Garlic (peeled) Ginger Root Horseradish Root Hot Peppers (Jalepeno, Red Chili's etc..NO Habenero!) Onion Blend in a blender. Have a couple large tablespoons 3x day and you'll be back to riding in no time. Keep in a ball jar at room temp. Doesn't go bad. Also good as a kicker in salads or for dipping cucumber.
