Hey, I heard on another board that VIR is planning to phase out motorcycle events! Any truth to this?

If so, that sucks, I've really enjoyed that track the couple times I've been there.

I haven't heard anything, but it seems to be that way. No AMA even there this year and the Cycle Jam is at Road Atlanta. Sucks. That was my husbands favorite track. I guess I'll have to try to get down there this year before they totally get rid of the motorcycles..if that is what they are doing.

There's no Cycle Jam over the July4th weekend this year because SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club) has been trying to have their Annual National Convention there and it has finally happened. Their convention is always the July 4th weekend. So it seems to me that VIR feels they will make more money with a car club convention versus AMA Pro Motorcycle races.

RRW mentioned a "vintage race". That's not correct, its the SAAC National Convention. The one thing of interest is SAAC will be using the full course.

VIR is still on the AMA schedule. Looks like they will be there in August.

  5. Definitely still an AMA round. You can buy a joint ticket for that round and Road Atlanta.
