i am a future newbie to wera, i plan to be getting into it by end of summer or first of 2010.
i have no idea of sites or rules or fees to get into wera.
i would love any of you to help with sites to view, pricing to get started, etc.

i have all the info on the bike specs. i do not have any information on how to get myself into the league. other than getting the race license that is about all i have.

    thanks guys.

    Ok..... here go's...

The WERA forum is an excellent resource www.wera.com. Their rules, classes, etc are all posted clearly and are easy to understand. CCS is a good org too but IIRC WEAR events will be easeir for you to get to from your location.

Seems that you are in MS... STAY AWAY FROM NO PROBLEM RACEWAY.... it's really sketchy/dangerous.

Many here will help you if you ask... Remember racing is supposed to be fun and if it bcomes work then its time to rethink your reasons for involvement.

One more thing..... I'd really think about ditching that 10 and getting a nice clean SV-650.. You can race a ton of classes and you'll spend a lot less money with us for tires.

As far as getting your license, go to Ed Bargy's school.

    www.edbargyracingschool.com

You aren't far from Talladega so you could do his school on Friday and race that same weekend.

Ditto. Any later model 600 will work great too. I had a 04 10R and it ate rear tires on track. You will have more fun and learn faster on a 600 or smaller.

    +1

One advantage of the Bargy school is that it counts as one weekend toward getting your novice license. Theoretically you can go from a Provisional Novice to a full fledged novice all in one weekend.

I'll be doing my first race at the end of March at VIR. One bit of advice I can offer is to READ the WERA rulebook. It may seem a bit tedious at first but there is a lot of good information in there and it will answer most if not all of your questions.

    http://www.wera.com/rulebook/?x=1098

    Good luck!

    Yep.

One more thing i would like to add regarding the Ed Bargy School...

DO NOT TRY TO WIN THE MOCK RACE!!

I came in 2nd in the Mock race, but that just so happened to be where I ended up, i wasn't pushing anything.

If you crash in the Mock race, you do not pass the school and you lose your $400 (or whatever the school fee is now).

They want to see smooth, consistent riding and proof that you are in ultimate control at all times. You (read: anybody) are not going to impress the instructors with speed...they all have years and years of race experience.

I took the Bargy class at Tally and there was a guy there who passed the school while never getting faster than 1:13 lap times. BUT, he was very smooth, very consistent, didnt get "shook" when he was passed closely and was basically a very good rider.

It doesnt matter if you are 10 seconds off a mid-pack race pace, if you do not crash...you will get your license. If you crash, you will not.

Oh yea! I have video of someone trying to go hero and get third on the final lap. I thought no one was behind me except my friend and had dropped my pace (I was not going to catch #2). As he came by me in #5 at Barber I picked up my pace again planning on passing him at the chicane. Well instead I have some great video of how not to wind in to much throttle nor wack it closed when you loose the back end. Thankfully he was not hurt but sadly his bike was tore up bad. Don't be "that guy"
