I am looking to buy a quick shifter. So before I do, I need to decide if i want to change to GP shift as well. What are the benefits to changing?

Its really personal preference. Now there are some tracks where you are shifting up mid left hand corner. Safer to push down to shift up in that case (std would be putting your boot between the track and shifter). Theres a bunch of big name pros who still use std on their racebikes.

Just try it out for a while and see if you like it. Some will switch back to std.

everything to gain and nothing to lose....
    no false neutrals
in the mind...when you want to go up a gear you go up and when you want to go down a gear you go down
    Just do it!

Because it says it in the name "GP" so it has to be good :)

I kid I kid.. I switched because it seemed easier to me when leaned over and felt more natural, it could have been me but it also seemed to make a difference in the way the shift engaged (better, smoother, faster).

If you doing a quick shifter go GP you foot has so much more strength to push and snap the next gear it really works much better.
