I think it's hard to judge a school you have not taken. Of course is alway the school I take the best... Unless you have take different schools you can make no real judgement. I took three different school so far and can compare them for myself. Reg pridmore, Jason Farrell's track clinic, YCRS I rate them the same way, and the cost for the schools were in the same way. I also believe that the schools teach different things with different focus. Just my 2 euros,... Germany CCS#19
Would you take a school on a track you've never ridden before? I could see advantages and disadvantages....
I took the DiSalvo school at Jennings. I had one day on the track before I took the school. I was a little hesitant to take the school on such a new track to me, but I had no issues. I would not think twice about taking a school on a track I've never been on. :wheel:
I would, or rather I'm going to this weekend. I'll be taking the Ed Bargy school down at Jennings on Sat. They're running Clockwise this weekend though so I'm guessing it will be a new track to most people a the event. I think as long as you have done some track days somewhere you would be fine taking a school at a new track. Might even be better since you won't have bad habits or bad lines burned into you.
I could see how a new track means you have no built in, track specific bad habits, but I could also see how it might make you a little gunshy until you felt it out. I'd really like to do a school this year and try to improve on some bad habits I have.
That is a good question. I think if it was a track I planned on racing on in the future, then i would want to take the school on it before racing on it. Jason and Brian can definitely show you the best way around the track. And you would be able to learn the track, in a controlled environment, at your own pace...while getting excellent instruction and reviewing track maps etc. Personally, i wouldnt hesistate to take a school at a new track. You are kinda "klling 2 birds with 1 stone". You get to learn the proper lines around a new track, while also working on your personal riding techniques.
I took a school after one trackday. I think I would have gotten a bit more out of the school with a little more experience, but I didn't have many bad habits to break.
It will be my 2nd. Looking forward to seeing/meeting you there Just take it easy on me during the open lapping sessions.
:blah: I've heard straight from Jason that you don't suck. Don't try to lull this Yankee into a false sense of security.
Just got back from a training event down south........ Spent a lot of time talking with Jason Desalvo over 3 days......... Jason shares a WEALTH of knowledge, and yes this is an understatement! I can't wait to get the "full monty" of on track training at a proper speed academy weekend....
I couldnt be more pumped about the school at Tally at the end of March. I need to pick up 2 seconds there. I know the school isnt about lap times, but the things he/they teach will allow you to run better lap times, while having much more control of the bike and having much more room for error.
Dude u will gain so much confidence your not just going to pick up a couple of seconds...! Your going to have so much more fun on every track you ride from here on out.
