My name is Kevin Reinhold and I am a 48 year old male who has never gotten along with people for long. They say I am cocky and brag about my riding. It may be true, I started riding after I got married and could not get enough of it. I would leave work in the morning and just ride to be riding. If you ask my wife and friends they will most likely tell you that I Eat and Sleep motorcycle. Do I know a lot about them well No. I can compare models and tell people what I think would work for them and why. But as far as tearing one apart and putting it back together "NO" I am not that guy. I LOVE TALKING BIKES, I LOVE READING ABOUT BIKES, I LOVE ANYTHING BIKE RELATED PERIOD!!! I have owned the following bikes since childhood: Kawasaki 75 Mini Bike Honda CB400 Hawk ( my very first street bike hand me down) the scariest bike I can remember 92 CB750 Night Hawk- logged 12,800 miles in the first year I owned it bought as a left over in 1996 the real beginning of my street riding 97 Honda Magna VF750C Magna- my sport cruiser since this bike was a cruiser with the soul of a sportbike with that v-4 engine. Hung with more than a few sport bikes in the twisties on this bike I logged over 67,000 miles aboard this bike I loved it that much. 2003 CBR1100XX Blackbird- my first sportbike if that is what you want to call it. The first bike I ever piloted to an indicated 167mph on some dark highway at night. This bike lasted for 2500 miles before I put it into the side of a mountain at Deals Gap and had to rent a U-Haul to bring it home after riding it 600 miles to get there. 2003 GL1500 Honda Valkyrie- this bike replaced the Blackbird I totaled and I rode the crap out of that bike for 23,000 miles over the next 12 months. This has got to be one of the BEST POWER CRUISERS on the market and finally Honda has resurrected this bike once more. 2003 CBR1100XX Blackbird again-LOL one of our staff members here (you know who you are Vern Lux) sold me this bike. I was actually buying a four wheeler and saw a picture of a Blackbird on his office wall and got to talking. He said they still had them in crates in Chicago or something and I told him if he had one in the store the following Monday I would buy it. Since we are both men of our words he had one there Monday and I bought it I kept that Blackbird 3 years and logged 42,000 mile on it 97 GL1500 Honda Valkyrie- this bike was bought for my two up bike since at the time my wife would have nothing to do with the sport bikes. 2008 GL1800 Comfort/Nav- traded the 2003 Blackbird and the 97 Valkyrie for this so that my wife would ride with me. This was supposed to be my only bike but the itch for a sportbike just would not go away. This bike is currently pushing 45,000 miles. 2002 Yamaha FZ1-3000 miles on this bad boy. As much as I enjoyed the comfort of this bike I could not get over the bike using oil every time I would push on it. It lasted for one riding season before being replaced. 2003 CBR1100XX Blackbird- while searching craigslist looking for a CBR1000 to replace the FZ1 I cam across an ad for this bike and thought it looked very much like the one I had traded at the dealer the year before on the GL1800. After some correspondence it was found to be that bike and I could not help myself and bought it again. Especially since the guy had only ridden it 600 miles in a year due to health issues. Heck the bike still had the tires on it that I traded it with. I proceeded to keep this bike for another 3 years and logged another 30,000 smiles on that bike before trading it again for my current CBR1000RR Blade. I know the coaches at ACC got tired of hearing me TELL them I was looking for the bump because I was here to correct all the BAD street habits I had formed and that I had a quater of a million street miles. I know I got tired of them telling me I was NOT NOT GETTING OFF THE BIKE or that I was riding like I was on a country road ride on my tractor just because I felt I was getting off the bike "BUT I WAS NOT". All they ever heard is how I had close to 250,000 street miles and did not belong in Novice. Thankfully they held steadfast and kept me in novice long enought to work on being smoother, better body position ect.. I cannot thank the staff enough for their mentoring as well as my buddy Steve Brammer for their honesty and pointing me in the direction of what I needed to do to become a better rider. Granted all this comes on the heals of me crashing out at Barber, but I thank you all for showing me what the advantages of riding at the track are as well as what I have learned. If I would have crashed on the street this last weekend chances are I would not be here typing to you all. I would be face planted into a tree or better yet someone would probably still be looking for me on one of the many back roads that I use to use as my personal race track. Thank You all for having a GREAT orginization like this that allows me to ride my bike the way I choose but in a SAFE, CONTROLLED ENVIROMENT!!! As much as I was not ready to crash this past weekend I am thankful that it happened with my new family. Please know STAFF as much as it may seem I am being cocky at the track or in the forums "I GET IT" I am here to learn. You may tell me the same thing more than once but that is just my learning process sometimes cause I have a thick head but apparently not a thick collar bone THANKS AGAIN, STT AND TO ALL THEIR STAFF YOU ROCK!!!!!!
Well I am available for next few months since I cannot work my current job due to it requiring me to use my shoulder :-( if you need any help I will be more than happy to use spell check :blah:
Look forward myself to meeting more people. I will be the guy at the track with just a td more excitement than the normal guy. My wife could tell you how cute I was the first time I got a knee down in a corner, Orr when I come home with pictures displaying all the hard work on body position paying off.:thumb:
Kevin when I met you at NOLA you didnt seem cocky at all..... You were just a D*&^K... ; ) Great Post.... And remember without people asking things good, bad, approved or not without people like you we would not have the Privledge of being there.... Thanks...
I didn't meet you at Barber, but I saw you - I was only pitted a few down from you. I heard stories - given your first intro sentence, well......
Between the huge bold font and your huge annoying frikkin' signature I would not describe you as cocky but....
Yep did not meet you personally either, but I did hear how you were making the boys next to me feel slow on track. Probably one of them telling you about my attitude :fencing:
Sorry to hear of your off. Watch out for that Vern fella and any other CBRXX.org ppl. (hi I'm Fast Eddy on that board) I have a lot of friends that have had good results healing with this... http://www.seacoast.com/maximum-bone-aid/seacoast-vitamins/180-tabs/p803
I'm not really sure how a list of bikes you've owned makes for fascinating reading but whatever. If those photos are chronological it looks like your body position has improved. :thumb: I'll be honest, any references to "the Dragon" and "Dragonslayers" on the internet are instant turnoffs for me, but what do I know? I'm not exactly Captain Cool. Ramble on, Brother.
