I'm super excited about Barber this weekend and getting to try out my new track bike! I was following my daily surfing of this site and noticed who some of the instructors are that will be there this weekend in the various classes and the question struck me - who is the fastest around Barber in STT (Elena Myers and Disalvo excluded of course)? And do you have video of one of their laps? (Barber footage specifically because I've ridden it and have a perspective of what my speed feels/looks like, so I'd love to see what a truly 'fast' STT lap looks like)

I also get that people want to ride a clean ride and they do it for fun and that most people are pretty STT family around here, so they don't like to brag and like to stay mostly humble, so if someone won't chime in - give them the credit.

I hear Seca is wicked fast, anybody got video of him going around Barber?

a track like barber you could probably find some onboard footage from an AMA race or something, check out EBR's team videos from last year, they were sponsered by gopro, i'd assume they'd have some video

Here is Roger Hayden doing a ~1:27 lap.

I was hoping for STT folk and not professionals.

Oh there are a few :)

Richard, David grey, Rob Sobottka, La Conte, the best husband in the world, Derrick, PJ, Eric Smith, and quite a few more whose names i don't know.

Look for Rob's videos. He has a lot of barber footage in his channel.

Whitney Arnold Run it wide. The grass is a safe place.

I am pretty fast, in my own mind. Onetime I was well on my way, do a 1:35 lap the I slung my crap out in the woods in turn one. Learned my lesson so that now 1:49 is fast enough for me. LOL All jokeing aside, I respect the really fast guys/gals, but I do not want to know what one of their laps feel like or look like, because it ends badly for someone with my talent.

Good crap that Hayden lap is mean. Looks like the bike is fighting to buck him off the whole time.

Again though, those are full on professional racers on full on race bikes. I'm sure that a dedicated hobbyist will stretch theirs to the limit, but I doubt most of them have an AMA or WSBK prepped machine.

  16. True that but still,I by no means am a pro,I'm a hobbiest and club racer....huge differences in skill, training and equipment but it's mind blowing just how much faster they are...I've never raced Barber, only track days, best in the 33's...that's 10 seconds per lap,Road America,23's to 26's..again ...10 seconds per lap,so after 10 laps I'm 100 seconds behind...lol..can't even get my brain around the difference...

My first lap without an instructor at Barber (which was my 3rd session of my first track day ever in my life) was a staggering 2:21, so he'd lap me every lap and a half easily (I've gotten better since then).

I'm excited to go ride a smooth ride this weekend!

(my ulterior motive too was to watch videos of the smoothest [and thusly the fastest] riders, study their lines, listen to where and how much throttle is being applied, divide that by half and learn the art of the apex from their teachings)
