Ok, I want to hear all the reasons (excuses) why I am so slow, both on and off the track! Or, if you are slow, what is your excuse?:wtf:
I think if I cared how fast I was, I'd go race. But to be honest, I really don't. I enjoy riding a motorcycle. I enjoy being at a track. That's enough for me. Sure, there is a certain pride or bragging rights that come with being pretty quick, and yes, I would love to keep up better when DiSalvo/Lewis/Harris/Cantrell/Brooks/et. al come screaming by.... but to be honest, that's not what I'm in it for. I just love being at a track. And as Monte used to say, "Nobody else cares how fast you are, or aren't". Certainly, I am always working on my technique out there... and I have enjoyed getting rid of the 1000 and going back to the Duc, which doesn't have near the power but handles way better. I really want a 675r bad as my next bike.... I do have a lap timer on my bike.... why? Just to make sure the beacon is working! t
My problem is between my ears, I am old, crashing hurts and it is expensive!! I could pick up a few seconds a lap with a more powerful bike, the xb does not have the best engine for the track, but it is fun and does a pretty good job, so I will work on my speed little by little, and not get over my head. If I can go faster, great, if not I still am having a fantastic time!!! Oh yeah growing a bigger pair would not hurt either. lol!!
Dude.... that last time you were out I grabbed the beacon and started running towards turn last so you'd get better lap times... did that help? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: t
I think I am slow off the track because of my head! I think I am slow on the track because of my head!
I am slow because the alarms in my head that tell me I am leaning too far go off way too early and often. It keeps me safer but it also keeps me slower. Matt
I'm old, fat, and mostly coach Novice and don't go out and play enough in A to remember how to go faster. Bottom line though is like Trevor said, I love being at the track and as long as I am riding, I am good, fast or slow. I really enjoy coaching Novice and seeing the big smiles more than going out there and trying to keep up with the really fast guys.
You still make a lot of us look slow. lol, I go out and have fun. I'm by far anywhere absolutely near being fast but I love going out and hanging out with friends and learning a thing or two.
Because trying to go fast burns up more tires and fuel; it is a conscious financial decision. That is my story and I'm sticking to it. :bounce: Like Trevor, I just love riding my bike. I haven't even used a lap timer the past 3 TD weekends. Slow, fast, street, track...doesn't matter to me. Sometimes it doesn't even matter if I'm moving at all. I enjoy sitting on the bike and making vroom vroom noises.
It's not that I am slow, it's that everyone else is faster! Ok, I am slow.... For me it's mental, my street bike does double duty street and track. That little voice in my head says so Jim do you want to ride it to work on Monday? It's time for a track bike so I can go slow without worrying!
