SUGGESTIONS NEEDED!! I want to do something unique. Not the same old dinner, blue man group, flowers, etc sueggestions?
I know you’re not going to like this suggestion and I'm not sure how unique it is. But, I say take the day off, get rid of the kids, clean the house, and YOU make her a candle lit dinner. On her day, show her she is more important than ANYTHING else. Show a romantic side and throw rose petals all over the bedroom. You can't go wrong when it is a gift from the heart. And I'm not trying to be cheap; my wife loves it when I put her on the pedestal.
A couple of hookers and a video camera. Can make for a lifetime of memories, especially if she is not happy with this gift. (Many females who have excellent recall of things they do not like and showcase this ability every so often)
A night at the Sybaris? (www.sybaris.com) Or, even just a Nooner at the Sybaris? (hint: a "Nooner" is NOT lunch at Hooters, and a quickie at Motel 6) A Real Spa Day at a nice downtown Spa? Then dinner and a carriage ride? The above idea of kids gone, romantic night alone is nice, but kinda not as "new". Does Lori like boats? What about either a Dinner Cruise or a ride on those crazy fast boats at Navy Pier? There are several nicer dinner cruise boats now too. (my favorite is the Oddesy) A night at a fancy Hotel in Chicago, Dinner in the room, a bath for 2 (ask Burton for soap suggestions...) A Surprise night away in Lake Geneva at a nice resort. Whatever you decide, it might be cool to arrange a day off for her from work without her knowing, let her go in, and have a limo pick her up, with you in the back in black tie, (bring something nice for her to wear along, and make it fun to change in the limo!) Champaign and fresh strawberries, and head to whatever you choose. The idea of being whisked away from work into a limo with you all dressed up would be really different. (Hint: this is not the same as picking her up in the bravada wearing sweats, handing her a beer and heading for the ponies...) Um..... I'll think a little more about it.
A little insight to things your wifey likes to do may help. Not what you like to do and drag her with, but things she would like to do with her girlfriends. She doesnt seem to be the girly girl type. Does she have any hobbies?
Keep Godzilla away from her Some of the above are great suggestions, they like to feel like you still care for them
WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE BRAVADA!!  Excellent ideas!!!!!!! She can't get a day off work, but the dinner cruise is a winner for sure! She's been asking to do that for a while and I always forget. Im gonna check dates and reserv. now. and the winner is Buck and he's good at picking china patterns too. Just ask K3!!
Birthday's are like anniversary's. I just celerbrated my 30th anniversary last week and find the best gift is to go away and leave my wife alone, but most folks find that about me enjoyable too! After 30 years I have found that giving each other space does wonders for relationships so my wife has been perfectly willing to support me going to the track! Here's something you both will enjoy. It's quite the get-away with relaxation, fine dinning and a little "game of chance" next door if thats your thing. http://www.frenchlick.com/default_.asp This is a excellent resort with all the amminities you could ask for and truly an unforgetable experience and only a few hours from you. It's a weekend trip for sure but well worth it. Maybe not birthday worthy but you would be the BMOC for sure. Or you could do something like Sybaris if you enjoy public bathing in the private Trazan room with sheets and carpet that glow under black lights. Now thats caring and sharing! Jewlery is a no brainer! The bigger the better. Good Luck!
