Just want to thank everyone who made these two days at NJMS completely fantastic. The riders, all the staff at NJMS...man, could they clear a track fast and get us rolling again or what! The rider coaches who helped a bunch of Novices make some amazing breakthroughs. Renard for running the classroom sessions Sunday...got some great ideas from that! Lance for the BBQ...the logistics of which boggle my mind! Oh...and the weather man. Amazing weather! Nice to see a bunch of old friends and to make some new ones! Looking forward to being back at Monticellon Sept 5 and 6! (And for all you wicked fast guys in advanced...please keep in mind I'm on a 68 hp 2cyl 2 valve air cooled old school bike! I'm pedaling as fast as I can!) :
Second to that! Great weekend! (although I was only there Saturday) Met some great people and had some really fun laps duking it out with Tim, Dimitri, Brian and Angelo. Looking forward to the next one!
I would like to chime in here as well. It was an awesome time. The weather was unbelievable and the STT crew is really very good. they know how to put on a good show. Great time. Lance, thanks for helping with the big bump to advanced. It's a lot of fun riding with them. The track walk was way more informative than I thought it would be. Thanks to all that put that together. Mike Ellis Yellow/black Gixxer 750 (#15)
Thanks for everyone who came out and made It such a great time this weekend! We had a great turnout for the BBQ Saturday, nearly 50 people turned out and had a fantastic time chowing down and getting to know each other better. Lots of old friendships strengthened and new ones created! Afterwards, we watched Faster and Little Fauss and Big Halsey projected on the paddock garage wall. I can't wait until we can do this again! Let's all keep our fingers xed so that we get the green light to do it at Monticello soon! I'm looking forward to out next event at Monticello on the 23rd of August and of course, labor day weekend! You all are the best!
here are some more shots from the BBQ: Ribs in the smoker! the line for the food: a plate o' goodness in Heroic Racing Apparel Todd McDabney's hands A rare momnt when Carlos is at a loss for words:
the MadKaw has been pacified: Our excellent staff form Boston Moto! "Cheers" from Steuie, Demian, Eric & Jason! (clockwise from bottom left)
Grilling the ribs after they've been in the smoker for 8 hours: waiting to get this party started... getting restless... is it time yet?
another plate of yum! another unusual moment where carlos isn't talking: nom nom nom! Watching movies afterwards:
yeah it is going to be sad day come oct when it will be my last day to coach for you guys! uncle sam is making me move down south but if its one thing I have learned about the organization STT EAST we are one big family and willing to always help each other out
For me it was the coaches passing drill (aka race) were I lead for 2 1/2 laps right before I pitted in from going way to fast. Thanks to Keith and Tom and one other coach for your clean passes David P from all your hard work before this weekend. Lance for all your hard work on the BBQ. STT Coaching staff you guys were great. Dave and grew from Boston Moto. And to the novice class on Sunday I totally enjoyed working with all you guys.
Code: [/quote] I just love this picture Look closer and kevin is on his toes with stright arms and lance is just standing there
The track layout is great. My first time there. I learned the circuit. I'll never learn why people ride over their head and end the session with a red flag. Foggy crashed 3 times in turn 11 at Laguna , His first time there, Went back to the pits, the last practice and was overheard to say," I guess that's as fast as you can go through there." IMO- EMMMM... right, yea, ok We ain't racing for 6 figure paydays. We ain't racing for glory, In fact: WE AIN'T RAC'IN! So why are so many of us hitting the ground? I'm not writing this to pick on the riders who fell. I've gone down on racetracks 5 times in the last 11 years(no,I don't think the tracks enjoyed it) . All but one was my fault and that wasn't in a race. My mistakes come when I'm tired,or frustrated-(I Should be going faster by now!), trying to ride through problems I know... . IMO- Stay focused , Leave your ego in the pits, Don't push!,(OK, Don't push too hard)
First time out with STT and i had a blast..i learned a lot from all the coach's on both days..Also special thanks to renard the novice classes were very informative. I believe the body position class helped me to finally touch my knee which made the whole experience that much better!! Now i go into each session thinking about the coach's saying "so what did you learn?" I asked myself that the rest of the day even when we were let loose...it was fun hope to do it again soon.
