What are the pros and cons from one to the other?

    Thanks for the help.

I know the mini simply just gives you times only - that's it. I believe it only holds like 40 laps maybe. It might also use one of those little round batteries that are hard/costly to come by. The ultra, however, uses AA, saves a ton more laps, you can enter the track name and date, lists what session/lap number, as well as the temperature outside.

That's just off the top of my head. If you can find a used ultra I'd go with that.

The batteries for the mini can be purchased at Walmart.

We have one that Draik doesn't use any more, $25 shipped.

not sure on the mini but, the full size has auto turn on so you dont have to think about turning it on prior to going out on a lap. the first time the beacon hits the timer it is automaticly turned on.

also the full size uses one aa battery for power, easy to find, and have spares for. Ski

The ultra is a 2 piece system so mounting flexibility is better to ensure you get the signal (depends on bike). You may have to mount the mini somewhere where you cant see it while riding, which may be a good thing :) . You can also get an addon module to download lap times on the XT. Check their website for other details.

The mini battery is a CR2032 about the size of a quarter. It is common but maybe not at the local gas station. You can pick one up at most any hardware store Meijer, Walmart, etc.

I'm looking at buying the xt ultra, do I need anything else with it? Like a beacon or something? I found a used one for a decent price..

looks like you got squared away, the xt mini is pretty good, used it for quite a while before upgrading to the ultra & then ultimately to the GPX
