I used to change it the morning of a TD or race to cure the GSXR brake fade issue.

After I figured out that problem I'm not required to do it as religiously. I do more for peace of mind since I cannot feel any difference.

Changing SRF every day would get pricey quick.

I use RBF and change mine three times a year.....on a GSXR.....and I do at least a weekend of track riding a month if not more.

Castrol SRF is widely thought of as the best of the best. Nothing out performs SRF ...nothing. Its widely used among Suzuki racers who must use the stock master cylinder (WERA superstock etc.) and is the only legal fix for the Suzuki m/c I know of.

RBF600 is great, I've used it plenty but it does not compare to SRF :sorry:

On a serious note, you guys are better than me! I change my oil about ever 6th to 8th trackday :( However, I am really slow!

This is straight from Castrol's web page.......

    Castrol SRF Brake Fluid

    The ultimate racing brake fluid

Castrol SRF Brake Fluid's unique silicon ester technology absorbs less water than conventional glycol ether fluids and prevents the fluid's high temperature performance from deteriorating. Its wet boiling point of 270°C is vastly superior to the minimum requirement of 155°C demanded by the current US DOT 4 specification. Its ability to withstand temperatures in excess of 300°C and superior resistance to the effects of absorbed water have established Castrol SRF Brake Fluid as the world's premier fluid for the hydraulic brakes used in all forms of motorsport and racing.

Because the rules do not allow m/c modification or aftermarket units and this fluid works. ;)

Its on the internet, it must be true!

Seriously, I use Motul, change it occasionally and have no issues. If you want to spend 75 bucks a liter at trackday pace, because "its the best" have at it. If I was racing and generating income, I would consider it.

Because it is "the best" doesn't mean the others are inferior products. If what you use gives you the results you want then why change? The suzuki issue is a good example. Known fade, and people have had success with Castrol so that may give results that you want.

I ride a yamaha, and have never had a boiling issue with fluid-- even with cheapo fluid. I'm willing to bet that fast guy can't boil his 'priller brakes either and wouldn't notice fade with Motul, but he has knowledge of Castrol so it works for him. I am SURE his car will boil them easily and castrol is the product to use there...

Bottom line, its preference and economics. Just because it isn't "the best" doesn't mean your brakes will stop working in T1.

I thought about trying the SRF to cure the GSXR issue but couldn't find any credible reviews saying it actually fixed the issue long term. An expert racer in the MW on a GSXR750 went through all the usual hoopla (pads, lines, cleaning, etc) and tried the SRF. He said it did not solve the issue. He still had to rebleed all the time but I can't remember how long it lasted (a race, 10 mins, I dunno).

Bottom line for the GSXR it's a manufacturing/system defect and nothing is going to cure it unless you get all new parts.

In terms of on paper performance the SRF has the best wet boiling point. I don't think there's any argument that it is literally is the best brake fluid you can buy. If you aren't cooking the brakes then anything is going to work just fine.

Uh yeah, I know the WERA rules. Been racing since '94 and have owned nothing but GSXR's since '92...except for the '13 H-D night rod special I bought last year.

Your claim that SRF fixed the GSXR m/c's is what I was referring to.

    :thumb: Bingo.

....except for 'anything is going to work just fine'. Even a mid pack novice racer would experience some fade with cheap $4 fluid.
