yeah that bike has wrong swing arm for 04 production and whole thing looks like someone got himself 749R CF body and pretends he has 749R. Tank also does not look like 749R tank doe again no clear info about them at all one thing for sure there are not many of them out there
Just a note that there are a lot of opinion in here. Ducati didn't almost go under due to expense. The SL and Desmo cost a LOT more to produce. The issue was the design was a departure and somewhat of a failure in getting customers to buy in and what led to the 1098 design. Smoking a 1098? Hmmmm... Good luck, but what is best for a bike like this is pictures and a VERY detailed report on what has been done and what upkeep has been done. Who maintained and worked on the motor as well. You are talking a bike that while somewhat hard to find, isn't exotic. However, the service schedules and who did it are very important if you want to sell. Just an opinion and suggestion.
Brian, I believe the same guy who built yours, did all the work and maintenance on this one. It's got aftermarket errrthing.
That needs to be noted. If TJ from Motounion in Milwaukee built and maintained it, it has been VERY well cared for. Those are important details when asking the price he is. Aftermarket everything needs to be explained also. As it sits, he is battling the fact that one, 749R was more than one year and at the price, people are only thinking a traditional 749R...
Not at all. But it was NEVER mentioned and that is a huge selling point... Again... Suggestions, man. GLWS.
Sweet bike.... and good luck with the sale. The price is on the high side, but.... the bike looks sweet, with a lot of sweet parts and seems to be well cared for. Plus, you have Steve P's endorsement, so that goes far. Personally, I could never part with my 749.... and it's not even an r model. The 749r was produced for multiple years, and parts identification is a bad way to decide if a bike is legit or not (for instance - they were using the boxed swingarm first on the r models, then on the S's, and then they made their way onto all the bikes... over the course of a few years - this is just one example). I think the 749r's that had the carbon street bodywork were only for a year or so (the last year or so of 749r only had plastic bodywork).... but the bike itself was produced for several years. But then... I'm sort of a Ducati fan...... t
