this is something I've dreamed about for years- a grattan repave. just read on Eddie Kraft's blog that Sam is planning to resurface the track this fall. does anyone know any details? Monte? I've also heard that he might clean the Bathrooms, too, but I'll believe that when I see it.

Lance, does this mean the smell of smoked pork will fill the air once again at Grattan?

From what i have heard (and take it for what it is worth?) this re-pave is not going to be much more than a layer over top of what is there.

I got the impression that we are not talking about a full on milling of the existing surface and then fresh asphalt. More like a skim coat on top. Like i said, just what i have heard, and not sure how reliable the information really is..

Maybe. it's a 12 hour drive for me though- 3 less than Barber.

Justin, your info at the very least seems logical. I think if there's one constant at Grattan, it's that anything Sam does will be on the cheap. Still, I gotta believe that it's better than the present state of decay.

In our meting with Sam in the Spring we discussed from T3 to the busstop.

The material is a new compound which is suposed to be the next great thing and less than an inch thick.

Sam has been incedibly good to STT and we'll help em out any way we can with this project.

is it one of Sam's secret formula compounds? his patches are often the stickiest places on the track (other than T2, which always seemed to be full of kitty litter)- he should sell that stuff!
DON'T MESS WITH SAM'S SECRET FORMULA!

T2 is the worse part of the track, IMO. Remember the event when they had to place a cone right in the race line because the sealer was coming up? I also remember chucks of asphalt coming up in T4 at one event a couple years ago. I almost lost the front end after hitting a 2x2 inch piece of asphalt. I use to complain about T12 but after getting the new bike I don't notice any bumps now (though I took Misko's SV out last week and realized they are still there...mightier than ever). Any chance of talking Sam into putting in real curbing? I always think about what Grattan could be like with a $2M investment. :(

Interesting..........i didn't know you belonged to that orginization too!

Great news on Grattan, one of my favorite little tracks, CC & CCW, who cares about the bathrooms. I always enjoy a little foot fungus as nice reminder of how much fun was had.......

    Jiggy,

    1. I couldnt agree more.. that stuff sucked more and more as the day wore on today! It was really fun when it chunked up and stuck to your bike, or grabbed your knee slider from your leathers.

2 WAY TO GO today!! nice riding!! I have to say that all the staff that was out today put on a great showing despite some mishaps.
