I'm on my side! that's a great deal, he'd probably save 2-3 grand sorting out a brand new bike & getting it set-up. with the money he'd save, he could hire me to do the remodelling work... we'd ALL be happy! Lance

Yes, but my point was that everyone won't be happy b/c the $ he'd be saving should, no make that would be best spent on getting me an SV!
There just aren't any pre-03 SV's out there right now. :? If you wanted a new one or a 2nd gen we could get one today, but alas you don't. There is a Duc in the garage with your name on the title though, so I think you're doing okay.
The price is a bit high ($500) but we could probably get it down. We drove to New Hampshire to get her last one, so a drive to Kentucky isn't out of the question. Unfortunately, she also doesn't want an S version. A very finicky girl, she is. :? It wouldn't be very hard to convert it to a naked though.
Here's the one I was looking at: http://www.cycletrader.com/caddetail.html?/ad-cache/5/2/8/83712928.htm Only a claimed 300 miles. Basically brand new if that is true. Looks really clean. They'll also ship it for a pretty reasonable fee.
You could probably make up the difference doing the naked conversion, just selling the fairing. the forks alone are worth it, as the 02 S has adjustable forks. It'd be tough putting handlebars on it though, but it could be done. Helise, I'm not overlooking your needs, I'm just assuming that Wade is a good man and will take care of you, as a matter of course. to me it's a given that you'll get an SV. what's this about a Duc in the garage with your name on it?!?!?!
No handlebars for her. She will only ride with Woodcraft clip-ons. BTW, you can get the preload adjuster caps for any of the pre-02 SV's for about $25. All we need for the conversion would be the headlamp bucket, brackets, and gauges. But for what we could sell the stock parts for I'd opt for a Micron instead of stock gauges. I "may" be able to convince her to get an S version if I promise to convert it to a naked. She has an '04 Ducati Monster 620 with a whopping 1,500 miles on it. The SV was meant to be her track only bike, but she actually perferred it to the Duc so the Duc got very little use last year.
It's red... with a white stripe. Nice little bike, and hands down the best surprise-for-no-reason gift I've ever received. I wouldn't say that I prefer the SV, but I certainly do for the track. She was neglected a little last summer since we were at the track a lot and we hardly went for ride-outs, so I really didn't ride much. I mostly just rode it to work and back. This thread seems to have gotten a little off-track, so back to the GSX-R750...which really is more of a priority than an SV for me, so I had to tease him a little. I am thrilled for Wade that he has the opportunity to try something other than the SV - I think it will be a fun season at the track as a result.
Well, after looking at a LOT of bikes and doing a lot of thinking about what I liked so much about the SV I decided to go with another v-twin. I'm picking up a new 749S from Section8 tomorrow afternoon. A big thanks to Helise for encouraging me to be financially irresponsible. Now we just need to find an SV for her.
